Salary cap - you're havin a laugh.:

Quote: scoot "I'm not defending Hock, but he's been a bit unlucky with the game being on TV
Referee Bn Thaler took an age looking at the big screen replays before sin binning him
If it hadn't been on TV ?
It really proves the point that All games should have the big screen now, especially if the Refs can now refer to them'"

Agreed. Even after numerous replays he was still only sin binned. Yet now he has got a ban it is suddenly an act of thuggery.

Onto Hock himself, wasn't too bothered about him being kept on in the first place. One less balloon in the side for a few games now he has got a ban.

Quote: John Gilbert Reds "Anyone else fear for the bloke once he leaves the game of RL? Just what will he do with his life, without professional RL.

You would hope those close to the bloke (particularly his agent – who surely owes his Client a ‘duty of care’) will do their upmost to get Hock whatever professional help it is he needs (probably a very good sports psychologist) before it’s all too late. With the amount of games he’s missed over the years, he could go on to play beyond his years but not if he continues with this ridiculous behaviour.'"

I do. For me he needs help and advice starting from now for when he leaves the game. If he can turn things around and curb the stupidity he could carry on for quite a few more years as he has been comparatively lightly used due to missed games. If he does leave the game he will struggle financially with all the problems that go with it. But for all his foolishness I don't think I can remember him being criticised by players. Team mates or opposition.

Quote: Fozzysalforddevil "I can see us never getting of Hock and that's the problem this club has. Some players are taking Salford for a ride meaning we'll always struggle to progess. I can guarantee if we got rid of Hock, Chase & Locke(injury purposes) and brought in a quick ptb hooker a mean prop and hard working back rower we would be better off. Someone like Houghton, Kirmond & Huby for a lot less money!'"

Houghton kirmond and huby would all demand massively inflated wages to come to Salford and probably any other players of equal or greater quality. Unfortunately I think the doc has created this culture by trying to create success overnight. It may take going backwards first as a solution and fans and the doc having a bit more patience and looking more for the future rather than now.

Quote: Michigan red "Is our resident immigration expert Cas fan not around and offering free unsolicited legal advice?

I wait with bated breath his take on this, then fully expect the opposite to transpire.'"

Not sure what it's got to do with immigration to be honest.
My view is this:
Could Salford dismiss Hock for his on-field conduct? Depends on the T&Cs of his contract, it's a possibility though. They could claim his behaviour makes him incapable of doing to job he is paid to do. However, it has no precedent that I know of.
Hock could argue that there is a reasonable risk of suspension in RL and this conduct doesn't warrant a dismissal as it would in another workplace.
It's more likely that IF Salford want rid, they can come to a financial agreement that is acceptable to both parties. I think this would be counted on the salary cap though, unless of course a loophole can be found.

Quote: chissitt "First of all I never mentioned anybody having a fractured skull, just the RISK of fracturing his jaw or cheekbone which are far more delicate and easier to damage. As you say the first knee was on the nose and could have ended up bust or broken even, it's good of you though to trivialise the second knee which according to you just made minor contact to the head.
You are right about teapot though(Darrel Griffin) he should have gone off for pulling Amor's hair and also Carney as well for his assault on Escare, but that's not the issue here is it, it's Hock and how you can both criticise and then defend his thuggery is beyond comprehension.'"

Beyond comprehension I like it. It conveys a real sense of being the most outraged person in this whole scenario. I'm not defending him at all. The blokes an idiot and a coward. I'm merely ranking his misdemeanours in order with the other filthy acts of the weekend.i mentioned the attack on Pelisier. But the chicken wing on crabtree was the nastiest incident of the round. A one match ban if I'm correct.....

I challenge you to watch the two incidents of kneeling by hock and the deliberate and let's be honest some real hard work the Wigan player put in to bending crabtrees arm back, and see which one turns your stomach more.

Like I said I'm not defending hock I'm just trying to manage people's hysteria. .

He's daft.
He was correctly found guilty.
The ban is disproportionate and I agree with the chicken wing analogy

Chicken wings, ankle locks, cannonball tackles etc are the real thuggish acts imo, and the bans (or lack of) that are given out are ridiculous. In a full blooded game when you are phsyced up its easy for things to boil over and for punches to be thrown, or for attempted big hits to turn into wreckless high tackles. We don't want this stuff in our game, but we can accept that it can and will happen from time to time. But when a guy commits a chicken wing tackle for example, they know exactly what they are doing and the know the consequences. To deliberately try to hurt a fellow players by twisting his ankle or shoulder is about as low as you can go on a rugby field.

It's noticeable that your protestations about Williams and Carney and whoever else you want to drag into the debate are only done so on here and not on the appropriate boards' of the clubs concerned. When replying to your last post I agreed with what you said regarding them, but even if they are all guilty it does not excuse what Hock did or lessen his actions so why the need to repeat it?, Those other misdemeanours you talk about are all separate incidents and should be dealt with separately on their merit and not lumped together to suit your argument. You've keep repeating yourself that he's a coward and an idiot, Oh and you keep on labouring the point that your not defending him, what is your point then?.

how Wigan keep getting away with it is unbelievable. believe in the hudds game tony club does a cannon ball tackle on a Hudds player, crowd react, no action taken by anyone....

having watched both games only on TV i believe the chicken wing to be more malicious. hock was just being, well hock. he hardly smashed his knees into anyone, however the chicken wing was deliberate and malicious. had it been 3 games each running concurrently i think might have been "fairer" but 6 games for that is daft when compared to some "attacks" ie benny westwood in round 1

Well said Rhino - totally concur - really feel the club should appeal and try for a 3 match concurrent ban substituted.

If bans run concurrently, you are offering players like Hock carte Blanche after being put on report for the first. Knowing he could only get 3 games, what would of stopped him doing it again and again until he caught a nose or a cheek bone and did some serious damage?

Have there been more dangerous acts this year than Hock dropping the knee? Yes, absolutely. but the sheer fact he was stupid enough to do the same thing 8 minutes later warrents the bans not running concurrently.

First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg

The problem is the disciplinary committee are prejudice and Hock's previous behaviour has influenced their decision on the severity of the punishment. Hock is damaged goods unfortunately.

true, but it does seem unduly harsh. as shed just mentioned, i feel his previous history is clouding judgement.

as an edit, just checked the disciplinary and clubb had to use an EGP, missed that wen i read it.
