Said that a couple of times but got shot down. I'd have tried too look at Eliot Kear before the Bulls got taken over as always rated him as gets a fair few tries and can cover right across the back three.

It still amazes me how a coach of Noble's experience spent all that money but failed to realise that he needed a decent goal kicker. Quality goal kickers are worth their weight in gold and win you close matches.
Like the saying goes ‘Yorkshire born and bread. . thick in’th head. Like a kid in a sweet shop not realising he/she has just spent their dinner money. Unforgivable.

| Quote: Michigan red "Agreed but there aren't many speedsters who nail every tackle available at this time of the season who can be brought in under the cap.
This might all be academic as training with the team and getting any type of contract are two different things.
Said it elsewhere if the Doc is going for Locke significant money will need to be released by getting rid of some of the under performers, if for some reason he can't get Locke or a quality back from the NRL/SL then there is no need wasting the money so short term deals until the end of the season work for me and then Harris has much more options in the market.
The RU season ends soon and with the noises made about that avenue I fully expect a signing or two from rugby.'"
All fair points, but if what we're bringing in doesn't improve significantly on what we've got then is there any point making the short term switch?
Fingers crossed that, in a few month's time, we're all looking back at this and laughing...

You don't think that Eden offers more than Williams or Gleeson? I do as he has the skills of a halve and the pace of a winger.
And I'd still rather have him at full back than Platt.

| What's up with your current full back? From the games I've seen he's been your best player.

| If this is a short term deal to cover for the injury to Jake/Greg or to cover until a big signing then i can see the point as options are limited.
Otherwise I don't see it as adding anything to the team. I'm sure Wigan must ahve a player we can loan

He's done OK, and any weaknesses he has won't be improved on by Greg Eden. If the Eden rumours are true, then it may be he's being brought in to play in our painfully slow three-quarters, particularly since our only three-quarter with any pace may have suffered a broken jaw last weekend. Another possibility is that Eden is a short term replacement for Jake Mullaney, who limped off with a hamstring injury against Leeds.

| Quote: Ave It! "Yes Eden is quick and elusive and we do desperately need some pace in our backline, this was never more evident than at Leeds on Monday.'"
Before a ball was passed this year it was clearly obvious that we lacked pace in the centre's and had zero cover. Both Gleeson and S'au have lost a yard or two and it's a weakness opponents are offensively exploiting. I would imagine as a matter of priority, Harris is working hard on this area by making some changes to our defensive structure to compensate. Going forward I think we will need to find speedier replacements if the club has ambitions of being a top 4 club.

| Eden is a full back end of. Many of you seem to think he can slot in anywhere 1-5, well trust me, he can't. Given our early season injuries were all at winger & centre, forcing us into the loan market (Ade Gardner), not once was he ever considered anywhere but full back or Gateshead full back.

He's a full back. We've already got one I've not got full confidence in, this isn't much of an improvement. I'd like someone who's got a bit more confidence/ability/concentration under the high ball and in the tackle.
Quote: Michigan red "And I'd still rather have him at full back than Platt.'"
That's still not much of a comment on ability, to be fair!

Don't rate him but as RJ and RW have said as long as it's only temporary cover for an injured Mullaney (how long is he out for? have we been told?) then it's not the end of the world. Without going over old ground again I struggle to see how Eden is a better shout than Evalds at full back.
If he plays on Sunday I really hope he doesn't make a horrendous gaff that costs us dearly. Hopefully he'll start like Lee Gaskell.
