Where exactly have you heard this, I'm sorry but being personally close to a few of the longer serving players they have conveyed exactly the opposite. There main point being MP is barking! When returning he didn’t bother speaking to them, just barked orders of what to do in the gym. More worryingly the players said he has hardly been present in coaching since returning, It’s Phil and Sean who have taken the coaching role rather than MP….
That being said he has a meeting with the board this week about his future, his feelings being that he may not continue, he was hoping to be offered a job in OZ so he didn’t have to return, and those feelings are felt mutually by the board….they simply don’t want him there, after he publically mutilated the club. I’m not saying it was or wasn’t warranted what he said a couple of months ago as I know most of you are of the opinion it was that honesty that was required, however the board didn’t see it that way, and as far as there concerned there are ways and means of doing that sort of thing. I personally feel he made such an outburst to cover his back. Again I’m not saying that’s wrong as the point he made were probably all bang on however that sort of feeling between club and coach are only going to get worse.
,'" ]
Would you sooner have the players you are close to.Or Matt Parish.

It's not that I am slagging negativity more than I'm saying if your going to be negative fine a solution rather than droning on and on.
Everybody knows the club needs a shakle up and that a new owner is needed but continually saying so does nothing but bore people. Can you see anyone with a few spare quid from Salford thinking I know I'll buy the club but before I do I'll just see what my potential target audience think of the club, the move to a new ground and life in general - think we all know anyone with half a brain cell would run a mile after reading this forum.
I want the club and the team to thrive, I want the move to the new ground to be a catalyist and I want things to be that rosey that peple can only complain because there is nothing to complain about, my love for the club can't be questioned.'"
Im not questioning your love for the club. You obviously do with the amount of time you seem to spend on here. But glossing over the real issues doesnt make the problems salford have go away. You have to address your negatives to put them right.Ive supported salford for over 30 years now and never seen good times(i dont count 2nd division champions as good times by the way). The faith has gone for many supporters because of these owners and i got a lift when 10000 spectators turned up last game of the season, Which proved we have a fan base out there which isnt being reached, we always seem to be let down and kept out in the dark over things.MP was right moving to a new stadium wont improve the running of the club until everyone is pulling in the same direction.
I think we all kind of new that a groundshare was on the cards with Mufc reserves but never with Sale. But to make it worse were on equal measures with them and it will look highly embarrassing if they fill out OUR ground and we dont. The marketing team really needs to pull their finger out.It honestly wouldnt surprise me if a name change to manchester was branded if all fails. But you would find some positive out of that too i suppose.
As for solutions its easy ,employ a better cheif executive and marketing structure take a leaf out of sale sharks book.

| I have to ask is Salford's marketing department run by Mossad, because they seem to get in places without anybody knowing, and we are using the same techniques.

Said all along a tie in with Sale on the marketing and training front can only help. The odd cross code player loan would go be good for me to.

I'm not sure why Sale, who themselves are after the same corporate sponsors and members of the public as us, would want to help market a rival (and better to watch) brand. You don't get Debenhams and John Lewis helping each other with marketing just because they both operate out of the same shopping centre.

I mean more personnel, strategy, hardware and maybe if either approach a company and get a reply sorry but you play at the wrong time of year or maybe have the wrong demographics for us! It can't hurt can it. And the shared training is a know brainer that it works, said it before but by the sheer volume employed but kicking is better across the board in RU so we could learn much from them there and RU can pick aspects of RL.
I personally hope they market reduced season tickets for the RU/RL punters as any extra bums on seats is a good thing.

Strange you should say that, it's been mooted before for if the club ever re-branded to Manchester RLFC or something similar. Even before 2005.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go

| As a Wigan fan, we play in a stadium with blue seats in it, I know how you feel. We also have a rival sport playing in the same arena, it got so bad at one point that we were forced out to play a game at Widnes.
One thing I have come to learn is that the identity of a club is not in the arena which they play in. It may be a very small part of it, but it doesn't mean we are no longer 'Wigan' just because we don't play at Central Park anymore. I loved Central Park but it wasn't actually our first home, we have had change before now, change must happen to RL to develop.
You will only play around 15-16 games each year in the stadium, and in time the stadium will grow old and you will need another new one. But the fans and the name of Salford will still be the same.
The identity of your club is in the name of Salford and its fans, that is not lost just because you are moving to a new place and just because it has blue seats.
The same fans will be around you, YOU are Salford, not the stadium or the blue seats.

Spot on.
Just wish some of our own fans would cut out the negativity towards the move, and get on with supporting the club and team.

| The main issue with Sale moving in is not the fact we hate Rugby Union, but that we all know Salford are run so amateurishly that we'll never be able to compete with them off the field.
I find it frightening how alienated so much of our hardcore support is right now.

Not true actually Iain, if you look at Debenhams and John Lewis' positioning in the Trafford Centre, they are at opposite ends in what is termed the "anchor position" - all malls try to do that, getting a strong anchor is good for everyone, so arguably Debenhams and John Lewis are helping each other by being those anchors!!! Good commercial organisations can and do benefit from each other
I think the time has come in rugby as a whole, rugby league in particular and Salford as a corporate basket case to have some really off the wall thinking and creative ideas - when a hard nosed, professional businessman like Ian Lenagan at Wigan sees the writing on the wall and starts a deal going with Saracens, it's time for everyone in RL management to sit up and take notice, smell the coffee ... (running out of cliches now), but what is abundantly clear is that continuing as is, just is not a viable option.

| Right so this is my first ever post on here! I actually am a PR and Marketing professional and in the past have done quite a few bits and bobs in sports including some work with Hull FC. After the debacle that was the last game at The Willows I wrote a letter to John Wilkinson to tell him how mortified I was with the entire event - saying if I had put that on for a client I would have been fired. I supplemented this with some top line ideas to what I would have done - and that a major opp had been missed to leave 10,000 people excited about next season and the new Stadium!!
To cut a long story (or letter) short - Mr Wilkinson actually responded to me saying that he was intrigued by what I had to say and by some of my ideas and that he would like to meet with me to discuss. I am due to go and meet him next week and have pulled together some ideas and areas I think we need to be doing in the build up to the new season and the launch of the new Stadium.
Having seen how disillusioned everybody is on here though and the total lack of excitment for the new season to come I wanted to post ahead of that meeting to ask you guys for ideas that you would like me to present to JW. So anybody with any sensible ideas and solutions (sacking the board will not be something I plan on bringing up) then please do let me know!!
I think we should all be enthused though about the fact that JW has asked to see me - hopefully he is ready for some fresh input and ideas - so let's all get together and try and get something positive out of all this!

But do you seriously think Salford, as currently constituted, can sustain the running costs of that stadium alone? Partnership, in some shape or form (not necessarily Sale) just has to be the way forward.
Just about everyone on this forum agrees we need new ideas, it seems clear that there is no new owner prepared to put in the small fortune that is needed, so be creative look to learn from others, look for partnerships that can deliver benefits to both sides, stop being frightened of change
