If this so called "Hickey" signing does go ahead, I for one will be extremely disappointed with Mr Parish for contradicting himself with regards to fitness of players. Talk of ridding ourselves of one out of shape player and then bring in another 10 minute a game player.

Would be a complete waste of a quota space also.

redtillamdead79, Why are you coming across as though you want to prove everybody wrong. I don’t think anybody is having a pop at you directly, I just believe people are flabbergasted by this rumour as this type of signing wouldn’t make any sense. I am not questioning your source by the way.

Time will tell and we will see I suppose. It is becoming a farce at times this forum with regards to certain signings we are being linked with. i.e.; Michael Jennings so you have to accept people’s cynicalism

I'm not sure I agree with you that this wouldn't make any sense. Granted, when Hickey arrived here and played his first game against us (barely off the plane, having spent 3 boozy months in Thailand, IIRC) he looked like a useless lump of lard whom Wakey had struggled to find a shirt and pair of shorts to fit. Despite that, he still managed to score a try against us! Hickey had been able to hold down a starting place in an NRL side when he was fit - do you honestly think Adamson would be able to? I think that if Hickey was to come, have a full pre-season with us and get back to fitness, we may well end up with a couple of formidable front rowers in him and McPherson, either starting together or interchanged. Let's face it, this year, with the notable exception of the last game, our forwards including Luke Adamson have not been strong enough to lay a decent platform for the half backs to create enough for us to win that many games. If this rumour is true, then it might not be as daft as it sounds - as you say though, time will tell......

Pretty much agree with that.

It would be foolish to think that if he does come, he will waddle around like he did when he joined Wakey. Parish obviously wants to up the fitness next year by quite a few notches and would not sign anyone who he thinks would be a liability. Get him fit, and he would be very effective.

If it is Luke, then there may well be some credence to the Hickey/Adamson swap deal rumour. I think a Wakey fan on their forum has hinted that Hickey may follow Gledhill.

Good luck in trying to get Hickey fit, he's 3 you'd be better off with a prop from your academy cos at least he'd tackle
