| Quote: Iain "The biggest disappointment was the goal line defence. Absolutely terrible. Hudds scored 9 tries, 7 of which either came from the dummy half diving over, or the first receiver just busting a tackle - no moves, no guile, just going straight though. Then there was the try from the kick where we all just stood around and watched their player take it unopposed, then stood off while he offloaded it to the scorer. Really, really need to wake up.'"
Happens every season and one of the things that really annoys me about the way we play. It would be interesting to see how many tries we've conceded in the last few seasons from this because we just cannot seem to stop players from diving over from the play the ball on the goalline. On the other side of things, whenever we try it, it rarely seems to come off as other teams are much more clued up about those sorts of things.

| I havn't proof but I'd guess that defence of that kind was much stronger when Harrison was in charge. I'd bite the bullet and ask him for some defensive assistance, from what I gather he is still well respected at the club and if he helps what harm can it do. As others have said going forward we look very good (as we should with the pace and guille we have on the pitch) it is without doubt in defense where the help is needed.

| Last night was a real low point of mine in terms of watching Salford. Not really down to just things on the pitch either. We are 6 points down to a pretty decent Hudds side yet there is no hint of an atmosphere, it was like everyone knew what was going to happen in the second half. The directors are still carrying on their ostrich impressions and burying their heads in the sand in regards to the coaching issue. I actually feel a bit sorry for the players as for the first time in ages we have a team with decent potential yet stumble from one farce to another in terms of who is in charge, whilst waiting for Mcraes sick note to run out. Used to enjoy Salford aways if only for the off the pitch activities but am starting to think of better ways to spend £50+ every other week. Not sure why last night is so relevant to any of this but maybe it has finally sunk in that yet again we are happy to write off another season and wait for the franchise/new stadium and then the whole cycle will begin again. Can't wait.

| For me the problem is the fragility of the whole team - 1'st 10 minutes we looked good, creative with ball in hand, tackling well (in field if not on the try line!) and taking the lead twice!
Once we went behind you kind of knew that was it - despite getting back to 18 - 24 just before HT once Hudds scored first we just fell away.
At half time that game was winnable for us, but ultimately the Giant's forwards out-muscled us and we had no answer nor any way to adapt our play to cope with them. That has to be a confidence/coaching matter - until the back-room problems get sorted I can't see anything improving and the rest of this season being a write off (just like the last <n> seasons - where <n> is now quite a large number!)

| Even when we have played well and/or won, I've still noticed that we really need to get a ruthless defensive streak in us. We lack serious clout in defence and for me this boils down to a couple of factors. Ailing defence usually means a lack of coaching, morale, and most importantly fitness.
You can coach and practice great defensive technique but if the team is unfit it will fail most of the time. Good morale can throw a few band-aids on a tired defence but it wont get you through the season.
At the moment we have poor morale which doesn't help, and the team just doesn't look fit enough. I can't comment on the coaching which might be very good or very bad.

| Quote: Early Bath "Enormous overreaction currently. Two weeks ago we hammered the Bulls with enterprising Rugby. Since then we have played 2 top 4 teams with the strongest defences in the League and tonight we scored 4 well worked tries.
Our attack for once is creating openings but our goal line defence is dreadful and 5 tries conceded from 2 yards out. Shocking statistic.
I dont share many peoples view here as this can be turned around - attack wise we need to sharpen passing to where the man should be rather than one yard behind and we need to interchange DJ, Smith & Ratch throughout the game which would freshen ideas in attack but please can we have someone coach the lads in defence in our own 25.'"
Enormous over reaction? Really?
I'll readily accept that Wire were awesome and blew us off the park. What they played was some excellent rugby.
Last night on the other hand was a disgrace. Yes I know how good Hudds are, but Hudds last night were terrible and won thanks to a catalogue of defensive errors and indecision. A few players need to have a good hard look at themselves, because there are some of our players who should be ashamed of the standards they are displaying at the moment.

A convincing win for Quins would spell disaster. To be honest anything other than a win in my eyes will be a failure.
Unless both teams play out of their skins, play the best rugby they have played all year and we lose by a drop goal.
The team need to prove to those who do the long haul down to London that they deserve theirs and our support. In fact the team should feel lucky that they will run out to any support at all.
As for me I'll clap them on in my armchair listening to Stevo tell me how poor we are and how bad our supporters are for the situation with the coaching staff
