| I doubt that somehow shirl, its open age so most of the players are early to late 20's, some even as old as 40, don't think we're that desperate for players yet
ave it mate im sure the hornets average age is only like 23 or something and having 9 or so players in there first team squad under 21 is very good

| Irlam Start their Division 4 Campaign against new springs lions a week today, at home, if anybody lives in the local area and wants to get their rugby fix during the salford close season you should come down and support a local side

As Iain posted earlier in the week, it would be great if competitions were created for junior clubs to run alongside the senior Valentine Cup. There must have been a few of the Irlam lads who have only begun playing regular rugby league in the past few years. There was skill, committement, technique and energy in abundance on Thursday night. I know Irlam, and Cadishead, are putting a lot of effort into their junior set ups. Good luck to both clubs with their plans (and Folly Lane, Langworthy and Eccles for that matter!)

yeah joe played his first game of the year on wednesday night after doing knee ligament damage, sam broke fractured his metatarsal against pilks but didnt realise it was as bad as it was, carried on training and playing and then it got worse and went into his ankle too i think,
as for this year, its going to be the hardest one yet for obvious reasons, but we can only really prove ourselves by going through the divisions and playing the best sides, we have got the quality to keep on going but more improtantly there seems to be a certain will and determination about all of us for wanting to do well
any side that should play us this year shouldnt underestimate a 'new' team and a team that has just been promoted

Sumners played a fair few more than 2 games. He's been at Irlam for around 3 years now and granted he can only play when he is home from duty he has racked up quite a few more appearances than 2.
Gutted for Irlam, sounds like they were hard done by near the end. They've got some superb lads down there and the most pleasing bit is that they are all young (i.e under 21, there best forward is only 1icon_cool.gif! If they can keep that team together and add to it over the years they will mature into a very, very good amatuer team.

which forward is that? i would say a couple of our older forwards are the best in the pack.

I played last year mate and Sumner played at least 3 games alone then (maybe more). Both him and Jimmy are quality considering how long they've played RL.
