| what i want to know is, do we need this state of the art stadium? whats wrong with us having one like LSV or halliwell jones? yes they are basic stadiums but i like them, you get a good atmosphere and they wont cost £35 million or whatever the sum was to build ours!

Folly ARLFC
Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try
we had 94urrrrrrrrrr:7891.jpg |

| Quote: Salford red all over "The thing I find amazing (if true) is a bunch of residents over the other side of the city get told what will or won't be, and are only interested in the traffic lights etc , whilst this is breaking news to the SRLFC fan who are treated like mushrooms by the club. (I do however apologise if this is common knowledge, but I somehow doubt it)..
Very Upsetting..'"
Thats exactly what I thought, still I live 30 seconds from where the meeting was held so popped along, just found it a bit strange that Salford fans wern't informed

| It seems we are in the lap of the gods again, everytime somthing good is about to happen to Salford city reds a major disaster happens be it war or Ecernomic melt down. It is quiet literally us against the world imo.
Think the club didnt make an announcement because it would cause mass panic if it was made official, come the 27th July and we get the final result then im sure they'll say somthing.
Eather way ill still go, but if this dream dies a bit of me inside will too

| Dangerous times for the Club.
We need a new stadium, be it all singing and dancing or something scaled down. Having no plan B makes me slightly worried. I really fear for our beloved Club as it stands and don't even want to contemplate what will happen if the Stadium doesn't happen in some form or another.
Nervy days...

| I'll say it again: put it on hold for 3-5 yeasr, accept the loss of the franchise and do it properly when the economy is back is full swing.

| Has anyone mentioned we're in the longest Recession since WWII?
If it gets built Hey Ho!
If it doesn't and we become the next Bramley - Swinton, I'll carry on supporting whoever runs out wearing the Famous Red Shirt be it new stadium, the Willows or Oakwood Park Playing Fields.
The Home Office are looking for ways to spend all their assett recovery. Maybe a City of Salford Stadium & College partly funded by the proceeds of crime
the 1/2 Million handed back by Westminster MP's would also help

Wish the Home Office would look our way, what better way than to put some ill gotten gains into sport that could be used to put youngsters on the straight road & keep them there.

| Can't believe we are still discussing this as Salford should have it's own community stadium end of, other local large cities have already got theirs, why the hell are we the last and still trying to get funding !!!!!
The city has a proud sporting history and the young people of Salford need something to aspire to !!!!!
I know it's not an easy process but hopefully you see where I am coming from ?
Why and how have other cities like Widnes, Warrington, Wigan, Leigh etc.. got theirs, have we not learnt anything from the processes they went through or is it purly a funding issue and if so WHY is Salford struggling maybe we haven't marketed the stadium as a community stadium enough I dont know ???????
I'm not having a go at anyone the club, the council etc etc.. I just can't help thinking WHY is our great city still waiting ?????

| Quote: neil72 "If i remember rightly the club were supposed to have had everything inplace and the stadium no matter what was happening. ...........'"
Do you remember rightly - I'm not so sure - a business plan was put forward, planning permission was granted, but clearly full funding was never in place at that moment - how could it have been ? You wouldn't go out and raise the cash then risk not getting the planning through - no-one would do that.
Then the world changed - you might have spotted that in the press - the banks had no funds any more to lend, the building industry ran out of working capital many many businesses started to suffer - clearly Salford City Reds being just one of them.
The fatal flaw in the plans [iMAY[/i have been the link to Peel Holdings - way way back at the start of all this I do remember posting my doubts about the motives of that organisation - and I speak as a long time member of Lancashire Aero Club and know just how any organisation can be screwed by such a "friend" - If you supp with the devil use a long spoon"

| Community stadium as i have mentioned before, when Bill Hinds was leader of the council the Home Office agreed to build a 20,000 seater community stadium in Salford as a thank you for getting permission from Salford council to build Forest Bank Prison to hold convicts from Bolton, Bury and Wigan.
The prison got built but the stadium was overlooked and Bill forgot to bring it up with the Home Office.
I say now to Mr Merry earn your CBE for the people of Salford and go to the Home Office and remind them, shout and get to them to listen to us and get the bribe of the Community Stadium built by the Home Office, all we are doing is asking for the promise to be fulfilled.
