Personally, I'd play him for the rest of the season and for the next season as well.
Make him play for us untill his contract runs out.
He may not have a fantastic season next year and the other clubs who want to sign him may not be interested.

These things are never made official until long after the event.
I am dissapointed in Offiah more than anything, he asks the club to offer Myler a record breaking contract which they duly oblige to and Offiah is left reeling as he thought he was calling their bluff. It hasnt been Myler's or Offiah's intention to sign an extension with Salford for weeks, but instead we all have to witness this circus.

| I see richie myler as rejected the new contract offer it looks like he is set to leave. What concerns me is the lack of ambition by the club to keep hold of him and again makes you wonder what is happening behind the scenes at the club. Also makes me have questions about the stadium

| Not sure how much more we could have done. We apparently offered a very long well paid contract but it looks like its not enough. Unfortunately we may have this happen again and again. However galling we cannot compete with better supported wealthier clubs. Until we have a new stadium and until we get a substantial sustained increase in crowds we will struggle to hold on to our better players. Warrington offer a better prospect right now than we do. Nice shiney new stadium National coach at the helm and as it appears more money than us. The lack of progress with the stadium has the potential to damage other aspects of our club and may ultimately cost us a franchise. Myler leaving for another club is perhaps the start of the end of our super league existence. Natural pessimist as i am i can only see a bleak future for us.The Stadium is a must have but where is it....

Erm, he left his home town club, that he supported as a lad, to come and play for Salford and the bright lights of Superleague. Why did you think loyalty was ever going to come into it?

Look... whether he has rejected it... or whether his agent has rejected it... what the hell do you suppose we could do ?
It's nothing to do with a lack of ambition... If he won't sign for whatever reason, then he won't sign. We cannot force him to stay. We've offered a huge contract... so what more can the club do. Best thing is to sell him now... It's absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH A LACK OF AMBITION.

I fully agree with your comments "LoyalFan"
In fact if Richard Myler is to become a Warrington Wolves player next season if it was up to me I would let him go now on loan.
The old and tested saying 'NO PLAYER IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB' springs to mind.
But what I will say if and when young Richard does leave us at Salford he will get a good send off from the fans not like some players in years gone by..

| I think that Salford are in a no win situation, similar to Wigan with Chris Ashton a few years ago.
If they dont offer him a huge contract then he will go. If they do it will probably be for far more than he is worth as he is a 19 year old that is far from the finished article. Salford then run the risk of being left with a player that might not fulfill his potential and may turn out to be average. Indeed a big contract at this stage of his career could ruin him.

| TBH i'm glad he is going now. He is a quality player and i will be sad to see him leave us but if we do get a big transfer fee in the region of £500,000, that people have been stating, then we could get 4 or 5 good players to help us push for the play offs next season. Plus we'll have more extra cash with robbie and stapo going, who would of been some of our bigger earners.

| We won't get half a million for him.
Warrington have been in a similar position in the past where they have lost quality young players so they'll obviously be happy that the shoe is on the other foot. Maybe a few years down the line we could be the team poaching talent from other clubs.
I'll wish him well, can't say I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Warrington shirt though if he does end up there. I'm not selfish enough to want him to fail as we need quality internationals coming through.
Offiah should be banned from commenting on the subject in the media - he really has made a farce of the whole thing and rarely have I seen speculation where the agent gets as much coverage as the player in question.

| Let him go and treat the whole thing as a great business deal as far as Salford are concerned - paid £2.50 for him, sold him for £250,000
It may be that his contract at Warrington starts next season, but our rebuilding process would start now. He would no longer has a place in the side and we start to rebuild with the team we have, with a view to signing more.
Nothing personal Ritchie, but your agent can explain that to you.
First priority is to secure Ratchford and Adamson - in fact all this publicity around Myler has done us a favour ( thank God Offiah isnt representing either of them).

| Let him go, if he his not prepared to accept a big offer from us, it looks like we been had! We cannot at Salford build a team around one player, we also have two quality half backs in the squad.
Lets look at the cold facts, great signing by Salford, sell him for big bucks & lets get a couple of good young players or stengthen the squad in the centres where we need too.
We are not a Wigan, leeds, St Helens or Warrington we need to move on.
I have heard the debate about building a team around him, the problem with a club like ours one injury to our key player & we are in the , look at Willie Talau he was going to fill in at our problem area at centre? out for the season.
Well done Salford for moving quickly to offer him a bigger contract but do not be fools, if we can sign a few more like him & sell for big bucks it will be the quickest route to strengthen out team, we are no different to Widnes.
Finally I would prefer him to stay but the it looks like the big clubs have already snapped him up, lets just make sure we make them pay for the talent while we can.
