Sorry EB but can you show us facts on how many have bought these tickets for SALFORD games?

That statement is as offensive as it is pathetic. Mitie (sic) Mouse seems a fitting name for a small and bigoted man.

I actually ventured out of my bunker and went to the dark side tonight (I suppose that would make me a 'Fifth Columnist,' mitie mouse!).

Whilst the game itself was fairly poor (as was ours on Monday) I came away impressed with the matchday experience. The prematch atmosphere around the ground is warm and welcoming, with plenty of food/drink stalls and a large beer tent with a DJ/live music. All of the supporters I met were extremely friendly and expressed a firm interest in getting along to Reds games (some had actually been on Monday).

That said, I don't think we're suddenly going to have 1000s of Sale fans beating a path to our door each week - they're passionate about their club/sport as we are about ours - but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be welcoming/inclusive. I'm personally embarrassed by some of the narrow minded comments on here and any visiting Sale fans could be excused by thinking our club is dominated by aggressive bigots.

Thankfully, those supporters I met who'd come along on Monday were impressed by how welcoming and friendly the Salford fans they'd spoken to had been.

I've said before that I had misgivings about Sale moving in before we've actually had chance to make our own mark on the stadium, particularly given the way the relationship with SCFC has been portrayed by some parties. But the plain fact is that we do not own this ground and - no matter how hard mitie mouse etc stamp their feet - we do not ultimately have a say in who else uses the facility.

For what it's worth, I actually think having Sale on board will hasten some of the obvious improvements that are needed at the ground (they can bring the beer tent for a start) and will help transform a venue that, to be frank, still feels soulless and half finished into an arena that we can all be proud of.

Personally, I'd rather see the club (and its fans) be proactive in establishing a positive working relationship with Sale that, if handled professionally, can benefit us all, rather than stamping our feet and complaining about the unfairness of it all.

I like some of your post like the match day experience/beer tent etc, so don't take this the wrong way, but there really is no need to be embarrassed about what Salford fans think about Sale or rugger in general as this forum afterall is about rugby league and specifically Salford RLFC , where to be honest most of us couldn't give a xxxx about Sale or rugby Union .

I was referring to Sale's offer for their fans Kots.

£97 for the season and £297 for 3 years - standing - and they will be using the South stand.

What did you think of the 'obvious improvements' they have made a Edgeley Park? ...... was it raining because you will have noticed the natural waterfall pouring down from the guttering on the Popside umbrella.gif (that's the asbestos roof which now needs £1000's spending on it, we will have to see if our 'landlord will pay?)

Did you use the C&B facilities in the Cheadle End? if not you would have missed the authentic 'greasy spoon' theme they are going for icon_cheers.gif

Its a stadium that looks like its had 'transformation' from its multi - millionaire owner doesn't it? Why do you think they will do something at the new stadium when they are only tenants?
They might have done if they 'owned' it maybe ...... mind you ..... I wonder of they might try and buy it? ...... no they are sharing with you and that would only make you tenants to Sale and that would leave you in the same boat as County ...... nah that's never going to happen though as that would be scheming icon_ask.gif group-hug.gif .... nah it'll be fine icon_hug.gif

BRAVO.

Common sense at last prevails, last time I checked our club wasn't in the financial position to discourage ANY potetnial new fans. I know some Sale fans are looking forward to year round rugby (regardless of code) as are some Salford fans so there is already a potential increase in fanbase there for both teams.

Nobody is asking anyone on here to take a sudden interest in rugby union, simply to be respectful of others and welcome newcomers.

Sometimes I suspect that some of our fans would actually quite enjoy the doomsday scenario that the SCFC are alluding to just so they've got something to moan about.

I'm getting really sick of seeing our fans moaning about everything without ever offering anything vaguely positive/constructive.

I'm not talking about bricks and mortar improvements; the ground itself is a relic and you can see why Kennedy has opted against throwing money down a large black hole trying to improve it.

What I'm referring to is the way they've made the best of what they've got to create a really vibrant matchday experience with a carnival type atmosphere. Frankly, we could learn from this.

But you had been asked what the benefits were to Salford. All that shows is that Sale are charging standing supporters half of what we are. So not only are they coming in onto our patch, they're also undercutting us.

Your other offer was "Marketing initiative". Could you be more specific? Sale's administration are still going to be based at Carrington so it's not like we are going to be working in the same office as them, seeing how they do things - or do you know otherwise?

As it happens Iain, I compared the prices for my West Stand season tickets and it's over double what we pay. But you're right about standing tickets, even their fans think the offer is too good to be true.

Personally, I think it's a shame their staff aren't going to be based on site as I'd sooner see them working with us than against us and, having seen first hand how they have made a decrepit ground like Edgley Park really work for them, I think we could learn a few things.

By the by, we really ought to offer Sale season ticket holders discounted entry to our remaining games as all of the fans I've spoken to are curious and full of good will. It's a no-brainer in my opinion.

It just appears to me that some of our fans quite fancy the idea of a conflict based relationship.

Be sure of one thing: if Salford City Reds fails it will be down to our own deficiencies.

Specific Iain?

I have plenty of ideas as I am sure many others have. Whats the point in putting on here though to be vilified by the pro Willows/anti JAW mob? They have but one agenda and that is to return to Weaste and have a new Board who will be asked to Bank roll the club. Yes its barmy of course but thats why any posting regarding the new set up is irrelevant to them.

The opportunities are endless now and for starters the club should go mob handed to Sale`s last game at EP handing out special concessionary tickets to Sale fans for our game v Catalans. Nothing to lose.

Wow, we exist in superleague, what an accolade, i can't speak for all the supporters that have witnessed the past 30 years but i think JAW absolutely owe's some form of success having had to digest the garbage on and off the field in his tenure. Fans thrive for success, FACT, not to lie dwindling in the abyss for 30 years making NO PROGRESS whatsoever. 'You obviously endure a stagnant leader well i don't'.

See there's the crux of the matter you don't, if you don't like it vote with your feet and don't attend games simple really.
