| Do people seriously think we will attract the cream of the crop to the club, the Bellamy's or the Cartwright's? And are we truly in a position to be so snooty as to denigrate and poo-poo any potential/possible applicants?
I don't care who applies so long as there is a right and proper procedure in place in picking the next coach and its not a) someone at the clubs mate and/or b) the cheapest option.

| One thing is certain, this is a very important decision for the club to make with a lot riding on it. New stadium, new era, 3 yr franchise (hope) some money to splash around (again I hope), there are only so many positions open is SL.
I just hope they get it right, unlike my football club Bolton did when employing the genius Megson !

| Just read that Matthew Elliott is about to be ousted from his post at Penrith.
He's already coached over here and been successful, maybe he would be possibility for us for next year??

| It has to be Brian Noble for me, let him bring his own back room staff if he wants and give him a free hand to organise us into a professional super league outfit. He did a great job at his previous clubs. I was particularly impressed how he set up the Crusaders last year.

He did. He also rejected Russell Crowe's offer of a deal at Souths. Something tells me that there was probably a lot more offers tabled and rejected over the last few weeks. Makes you wonder why he chose the deal at Newcastle?
Back on topic. I'd love the club to observe and model our entire club set up on the Brisbane model. It's all there in black and white in 'Wayne Bennett; 21 years a Bronco.' Sure, Brizzy have far more $ at their disposal but that doesn't mean to say that we can't still use their model.
Have a read folks... Although don't be too upset if you don't find a sentence that reads [size"Brian Noble is the answer"

| Quote: sally cinnamon "See this is the problem attitude. You just discount people because they are British. If I'd suggested Bruce Didgeridoo who was assistant coach at the Gabba Gabba Dingoes in the Country Bogun League, you'd all be going, yeah this guy sounds good, get him in, he might be able to bring some signings with him from his old club.
But when someone mentions BRITISH coaches who have a background in winning trophies (Lowes Betts and Harris could all come in and say 'show us yer medals' to any players who thought they were too big for their boots) then you just discount them.
Other names to consider
So why didn't your team get a British coach

| I would personally like to see Adrian Lam if he doesn't got ot Wigan, winner on the pitch who you only ever hear spoken of in positive terms.
Asuming we get the franchise get the right hungry youg coach in and say there you go fill your boots you've got 3 years to make a name for yourself and hopefully for the club.
Though what I would suggest is say if we did get a Lam type and offered him a 3 year deal put in a huge release clause if a bigger SL or Aussie team come sniffing.

Perhaps because Newcastle have a new owner who's worth a bob or two:

Yeah, the cynic in me thought that too. But having thought about it, there are plenty of NRL club owners able to stump up that kinda cash. Bennett has also protested that he isn't motivated by the money... I dunno. Hard to say really.

| Brian Noble ticks most boxes.
The trouble is that there is an element on the Turkey that will be bad mouthing him from day one.
He is a pro.
The others being suggested are mainly either coaches who are unlikely to come here or completely untried at this level.

Just to clarify, I'm not in any 'anti-Noble' group. My belief is that wholesale changes are required as opposed to just signing a coach.
