Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union. www.squadbuilder.co.uk:1883.jpg

That would be the expression of interest, not the actual bid return.

Tenders were put out previously, but when a new company involving the council was set up, NEW tenders had to be put out, as with any council work in whatever capacity.

I wasn't trying to prove any point. You made the statement that tenders would not go out for a pipe dream as I descrived this fiasco.

Tenders were sent out for the previous stadium which did not materialise. That's not proving a point, it's questioning your assertion that this is not a pipe dream.

You're right, it's a pipe dream, it's a fiasco, the whole club's a fiasco.

Well done, now run along.

Quote: Scanners "pipe dream noun a delightful fantasy of the kind indulged in while smoking a pipe, originally one filled with opium. pipe-dreamer noun.
ETYMOLOGY

Lot's of money has been/is being spent on a delightful fantasy that won't happen. Remember Blackpool and their drawings of floating stadium? Pipe dream. You can't really compare that with a project with years of work, several planning applications, public inquiry, consent, formation of joint venture company, council chamber agreement, and tenders for the work.

For what it's worth. Whilst I applaud the club trying to improve crowds, I think that the original release on this "stadium building party" showed that the club still haven't learned the lessons from previous false dawns. As much as I am very confident that a stadium will rise on the Barton site, unless someone is 100% sure that work will be starting on site in the next two weeks, then they shouldn't be shouting about it.

At least you have acknowledged the many false dawns and the way in which the club is treating the fans as stupid. The Salford club cannot make any announcements because it is not a contributor to the scheme. Only when those putting the money in make an announcement can anything be taken as credible.

I've met some pillocks in my time ............ however, I've yet to meet this one.

What on earth do people such as you glean from this sort of approach icon_confused.gif:

Perhaps you should focus all your energies on something more productive.

What's hard for you to comprehend here? Salford isn't putting anything in to the development, so how can they continue to pump out press releases claimng things are happening when they aren't? Watch how you will all scream and blame the Tories when the NWDA is scrapped.

You aren't putting anything into the development either, but you seem to be able to constantly, repeatedly continue to pump out drivel on here claiming things aren't happening when they are.

Ever thought that no-one cares what you think?

Pin money spent by Peel to lever other projects. Waste of council time and resources on something that isn't going to happen. Just ask yourself if it is so viable, why hasn't Peel simply built it? They are the experts after all, look at thei portfolio. Fact is it needs council money because it isn't viable to build and Peel cannot justify the investment.

Popped to the Trafford Centre today and guess what.................that's right the stadium site is barren wasteland. Nothing happening at all. No plant, no workmen, ground untouched for years.

Can you imagine how excited Scanners would be if there was a press release saying that the stadium wasn't going to be built?

He'd abuse himself so hard he'd end up pulling it off!?! :}

Ok, the stadium will be built. if it wasn't going to be built would there have been contractor adverts in major construction magazines back in Feb?

I know we've had false dawns several times about this build but these things happen.

It could be worse! Take the Sydney Opera House, it was completed 10 years late and cost 14 times what it should have. Yet, it was finished and now it is one of the worlds most iconic buildings! c015.gif
