As for Coley, correct, he never even played for Warrington.'"

Hmm I'm well aware he never played for Wire , sorry to be too oblique. that was the point !

Coley is to Wire What Morley is to Salford , never actually played for you, always raised his game when he played against you and destined to play out his career without turning out for his hometown team. You'll claim now you never needed him but really you would have given your hind teeth to have seen him in your colours in his prime. and now it's too late that's sad.

If we'd have signed him as a kid from Eccles it would've been similar to the McAvoy/Myler scenario i.e. he'd have been poached by one of the top teams within a couple of seasons. Even a top team like Leeds couldn't hang on to him so we'd have had no chance and at the time IIRC, McAvoy was getting all the headlines at Eccles and Mozza slipped under the radar somewhat.

I get where you are coming from but I don't think they are that comparable. Morley was predicted by many to be past his best when he left the Roosters but he's been more consistent in his spell at Warrington than he was in his early days in Leeds (didn't see him regularly enough in the NRL to compare there but maybe the peak of his career was in 2002-04 in the great Roosters team that got to 3 GF's when he was the best forward in the NRL).

Coley on the other hand I don't reckon has been the same player since he left Salford. He's still a decent player but I thought his peak was around 2002-06 at Salford when he was a very good player and should have been in the GB set up more. I reckon in recent years we have had better forwards than Coley in Morley, Carvell and Wood. But in the mid 2000s thats when we could have done with Coley, when he was at Salford.

Quote: "“It’s where I’m from and I’m really looking forward to getting the chance to play for my home-town team,” said Hodgson.

“As a kid playing for Hull Boys you always dream of going on to play for your local club and I’ve got the chance to do that from next year.'"

David Hodgson's comments after rejecting an offer from Widnes in favour of a return to play for his hometown club.

Quote: "I am definitely not retiring and I have not spoken to Salford about signing for the Reds next season.
I need to put the record straight because a lot of stories about me and my future are being bandied about.
I am certainly not about to jump ship and sign for Salford.
When I’ll play again I can’t say but retirement talk is utter rubbish.
I possibly know how the link with Salford has come about.
Before leaving Australia, Matt Parish, the new Salford coach, had a casual conversation with my agent Andrew Purcell – nothing more.
I can also rule out reports of me being offered a place on the coaching staff at Salford'"

Paul Deacon played out a glittering career at Bradford and not once did Wigan ever enquire about him.

Then when it Looks like Deacon is on the verge of retiring off he pops to Wigan becomes a home grown boy amongst the Pie eaters and away you go he wins a grand final.......

Signing Morley would not be a backward step for Salford...

that said I hope he stays... to be honest even when he has a quite Game I just love watching opposition players be in Awe ( scared ) of him
