| Good promotion this. I'm sure that Belle Vue will be buzzing on Sunday.
Just to clarify, for Salford supporters, where do we have to go (i.e. queue up) on Sunday to take advantage of the £10 offer?

It will be buzzing. The Willows could be like this with cheaper tickets.

| You need to go to the club shop near on the Doncaster road end. Opposite where the old montys bar used to be. Please be aware u still need to pre purchase tickets prior to kick off. I believe it will still be £20 on the gate. Looks like this promotion had had the desired effect and belle vue should be rocking! Get there early, buy your tickets and call in to cats bar for a cheeky pint before kick off! See you there!

The near-infinate number of similar cut-price ticket promotions that the club have run suggests not.

The golden angels scheme appeared to work, but the cr@p rugby on show probably turned the kids off RL for ever.

When those cut price tickets are only offered to those in the know then thats why you get poor take up.

I think the difference between what we've done in the past and what Wakey are trying now is the simplicity and publicity of their offer. Ours have always been too complicated, not accessible, not advertised, etc.
Whilst I agree that the Golden Angel worked to an extent that was about free tickets for select few, which is a wholly different thing.
I am confident that we could double the crowd for any of our games (compared to the same game last season) if we ran the same offer as Wakey are, and promoted it in the same way.

| but that would involve marketing, plus if Wakefield get 8,000 for Sunday, about 5,000 would be £10 tickets and 3,000 £6 tickets total take £68,000 for the match multipy that by 13 for the season which equals £884,000 before tax. Can you run a club on that, not when your salary cap is twice that amount, thats why clubs need to charge twice as much to cover playing costs, and get average crowds of 8,000 as well as the TV money and sponsorship, so it is a tight budget.

Wakefield have sold several hundred memberships this week. I see where you are coming from on cost but if all those also spend £2-3 on food and dring each game then the bottom line looks healthier.
Further and no disrespect to Salford if we get 8K or more on Sunday thats a massive boost on our average attendance, I don't think we hit 5K last season and still averaged 6000. £000 on lat years gate puts our average up over 200 straight away. With some big clubs coming early season I see this as a smart move lining up yo try for a franchise if our average is good this season then coupled with where we have come the last 3 seasons in the league this will offset our financial issue for the franchise. Coupled with moving to Barnsley and a 23000 seater stadium we are putting ourselves in the frame to stay.

New Chairman Andrew Glover will be writing a cheque for the difference between the money taken and what would have been taken at full prices, therefore the club doesn't lose a penny of income.
In fact with extra supporters in the ground and the feel good factor created there is likely to be a huge increase in match day revenue from bars, outlets etc..
Get yourselves over because for a tenner the atmosphere will be electric and despite your misgivings about SM you have a good chance of winning in this game.

I agree to a degree but 8,000 fans paying a tenner is better for the club than 4,00 paying £20 (twice as many walking-adverts for the club, twice as many people buying refreshments, twice as many merchandise sales and, perhaps most importantly, a better atmosphere at games which improves the experience and hence encourages even more fans).
The issue IMHO is whether we (or even Wakey) can get 8,000 people to pay a tenner rather than 4,000 people to pay £20. My concern is that we'll get 4,000 at £20 but only 6,000 at £10 and hence lose money

Perhaps they should charge £2000 just so they make sure they're not losing anything.

Don't underestimate the role that going to the brink of extinction played in the promotion of this game - I'm not sure I want us to try that.

Fair point, don't much fancy that either?!
I did take into account the fact that it's our final season before Barton when making the comment though as I think we will attract more away fans to each game and those figures could be increased even further with a Wakefield-esque offer; not to celebrate still being in existence but as a final chance to experience The Willows, at a reduced price.

Yes, perhaps they should. Another excellent idea.
