If this turns out to be true (which i think it will), it'll be the only signing which we have made where i genuinely have no opinion, i won't be bothered whichever way it goes.

When fit, Morley was still putting some hard graft last season, so it isn't completely out of the question that he'll be able to put in some decent shifts. Walne and Emmit are still quite young, so they should be capable of playing an extra 10/15 minutes each match, to accommodate him. If he can still put some big shots in, then he might be worth the risk.

People keep saying Morley had his chances to come to the club. When? If you read his book he strongly refutes this, and indeed is quite bitter that Salford did not come in for him. After Leeds, he went to Oz, and on returning from Oz a certain Mr Karl Harrison said he was not worth a 3 year contract as he was all but finished. So when did he actually have his chances to sign for Salford. A 12 month deal might be ok as we clearly need an on field leader and an off field ambassadorial role, or coaching position could work.

What was his record at Wire last year?, that's got to be the only pointer to what he might deliver on the park.

He's sure to command a very decent wage so would we be able to off set this by employing him in a coaching role? Not sure how ethical this is in relation to the salary cap but I'm sure there are other teams using the same types of work around.

A disappointing signing, if true (and it is only a rumour, remember). I thought with the new ownership in place, the club would have moved beyond the sentimental signings, and this would just be a sentimental signing. I don't think he is any better than what we've already got nowadays, and the only bum he's likely to put on a seat is his own on a treatment table.

I've never met Adrian Morley, but my wife has met him twice and she tells me that he is a lovely bloke. He would be a great ambassador for the club, in a similar way that Terry O'Connor is for Widnes and Barry McDermott is for Leeds. But as a player, his recent spells of injury are a clear indication that his career has gone beyond twilight. He's 36 next week (happy birthday Ade, if you're watching).

Not all top players are capable of passing on their knowledge and ethos to others. I'm not aware of him being involved in coaching in the amateur game so I would be doubtful of his ability and willingness to take on such a position. But if he was, SCR might concede fewer tries! And that might be a relief to us all!
