| The RFL have not spent a single penny on the London club, ever.

The last two years or so, have been like a really bad dream, one from which we aren't seemingly going to wake up from. Scriptwriters from a certain other Salford based soap opera could surely not have come up with what we have been served up
Tanks for reminding me how we got into this mess!

| Quote: Iain "Totally agree about it being nice if the fans could pull together, but as for a fund for donations, we don't know what (if anything) is needed, and what it's for at this stage. Obviously there's Forever Reds, which is always accepting donations and is backed up by FSA regulation and strict rules on how monies can only support Rugby League in the area.'"
I'd be a bit wary of donating direct to the club if I were you. Look what happened to the £500k that Bradford raised in this way, swallowed up paying off directors loans and then still went into Admin.
I am a Wakey fan and have been through this also but I will tell you what our Supporters Trust advised Bradford fans to do (and were ignored). If you are going to ask fans to donate to the cause get the money donated into some sort of Trust (is Forever Reds your Supporters Trust?) and have it ready for coming out of Admin rather than using it to try and stop yourselves going into Admin.
How much better off would you be if you raised a couple of hundred thousand pounds and could put that towards a newco coming out of admin rather than it diappearing into a hole like the £1/2 Million at Bradford did.

| I have to agree with the above comment. I never truely understood the premise of donating to a club directly, with no control over where the money goes.
If my own club where in a similar situation I would want some idea of how much and what it will pay for and once that is gone, where will the club be financially. Still making losses, profit, break even????

I'm afraid not. There are many myths about the London club, including the one about the millions the RFL wasted on it. London have received no special finance from the RFL, full stop. I assume you don't object to their receiving their share of TV and sponsor money?

| Money in specie then.
every time the RFL gave or gives a club assistance with marketing, or specalist administration etc the salary of those individuals who are assisting the club or costs of companies providing services, is paid for by the RFL as apposed to the club paying for it directly.
Although no cash passes directly to the club (although i am not convinced on this either) its does come out of the RFL's pocket and into a suppliers.

OK. Give me ONE specific instance of the RFL 'pouring millions' or even thousands into the London club and I'll happily apologise.

Be prepared for no response.
The RFL have not given London/Harlequins any financial assistance, nor marketing/development assistance above that which they give to any other club.

| I suspect that I'm not alone in not really giving a shiny one right now about what may or may not have been given to the London club by the RFL.

And your attitude is the correct one. Moaning about fantasy money going ( or not, actually ) to London will not help Salford one jot. I just wish someone who remembers the glory days in the early seventies when getting 8k at the Willows was no big deal would come in and get Salford back on the right track.

| From the outside looking in, and please don't shoot the messenger because I come in good faith...
You've relied upon a long needed move to a SL quality stadium and it's not worked. Devil and deep blue sea. The Willows wasn't good enough for those up the food chain and with the franchise farce you had no choice but to move.
You are not alone in that.
We (Leigh) had exactly the same issue, once you lose your secondary spend income (pies and pints) and a disproportionate amount spent is on rent, it's a one way trip to financial hell.
The warning signs of your move were there a year or so ago when you moved your day to day squad activities to LSV and said you'd have to basically double your crowds; whoever, whatever, that needs addressing.
We had a couple of years of trouble with LSV Co, issues that have improved enormously; until all parties realise one cannot survive without the other then you'll never succeed at Barton.
Good luck.

Exactly - thats why we have to lobby the Councillors in favour of our presence there over the Christmas period.
