The Variety club is in administration/vol Liquidation. The cost of reopening it or the Tavern makes this impossible

The state of The Willows.
The council are very keen on the Stadium, a H & S cert for the Willows is unlikely in it's present state. The cost of bringing up to scratch would be considerable.

So we need to spend large sums of money and will receive no income from sponsorship/commercial entertaining.

At present we have a number of stories circulating regarding rent of the ground from the cost being halved to us paying peppercorn rent.

We receive the money from the corporate entertainment at Barton.

Can anyone explain where the saving/benefits of a return to The Willows comes in?

I have no doubt our financial state is precarious to say the least but this post has a number of holes in it.

I also fail to understand why fans expect a business to divulge sensitive financial information to them. I know we want to know but that's not the same thing

I cannot be there on Tuesday but if you expect some answers from the Chairman what about letting the fans at the Curry/Quiz night know your source IE Your family member who is on the board?

What utter nonsense. If, and it is a big if at this stage, we do fail as a Super League club then you cannot put it down purely to the people of Salford, but to the people involved with the club who have sat back and done nothing, expecting the ground to fill itself. I'm sick of people pointing the blame at the things that go wrong at the wrong people.

The way I see it (perhaps wrongly) is that the money we owe is to wilky/directors so surely as long as they are willing to not have this money, we shouldnt be going into admin - obviosuly they cant do this forever but short term thats how I understood it.

I have said this before, I know the club have said they 'dont comment on rumours' but this is just breeding FAR too much negativity. People on facebook site are now talking like this is gospel!!! We should be getting ready for a HUGE winnable gam that could push us towards the playoffs and instead its squeaky bum time. All the club needs to say is ' yes money is tight but we are not presently in danger of admin'. Then we can all ignore posters 'in the know' and get back to supporting our team

A question for Mr Wilkinson.
I think I'm right in saying that the annual accounts have said,for a number of years, that the club can only continue to trade as a going concern due to the support of the Wilkinson Corporation.
If that's correct,do our alleged current difficulties mean that the Corporation is either unable or unwilling to continue that support??

I missed that post by Bobby. Seriously Rob, how an earth can you blame the people of Salford if the club goes to the wall? It's not the people of Salford who had the 'build it and they will come' attitude, but the board!! Most of the people in Salford didn't even know it was being built and still probably don't even know its there!

To be fair, if you said 20,000 flying pigs were going to fly over Barton on Friday night for the half time entertainment half of the facebook following would take it as gospel!

Yep, The Willows was gutted. It needs considerable money spending on it to be presentable. Unless, of course, the fans carry out the renovation works and decoration...

I doubt the stadium management company would have agreed to a significant rent reduction if it weren't for a) the spectre of moving back to The Willows; and b) Salford City Council's interest in both grounds.

But the point is that these people tell other people...and then the 'brand/image' of salford reds is ruined as people think it is the same pants organisation that was at the willows getting spanked by 50 and 60 points.

We need a new image and these rumours dont help
