Quote BartonFlyer="BartonFlyer"Do you ever read what anyone else has said?
Dave Tarry said that [uIF [/u Salford are to be able to pay up to the [uFULL SALARY CAP[/u then we need to be averaging 8,000 at home matches.
He didn't say we WOULD be averaging 8,000 from day 1
He didn't say we MUST HAVE 8,000
Clearly 8,000 is a target to be aiming for, but the way its being presented is rapidly become an albatross around our necks!'"
True. But 8k was banded about a lot during the planning process for the new stadium, quoting studies showing the impact a new stadium had on Warrington and Hull (40+% increase in year one), and I think those studies were mentioned within our license application. Nobody has said we must get 8k to break even (well, Steve Simms did in one interview, the clown www.salfordonline.com/sport_page ... llows.html but he's known for speaking before properly engaging brain) but it has been misquoted, misinterpreted and misunderstood. Most people I spoke to laughed off the Hull and Warrington stats as they were already fairly active in marketing, had much higher profiles within their towns, had more going on in the field, and were moving to more conveniently located stadiums, but 8k should be a reasonable target to get to within a few years - [uas long as we're not just relying on having a new stadium to pull the punters in[/u.

Bob on. 25% increase on average each year.
The only niggle is whether Salford are already experiencing an inflation thanks to curiosity, which if so will inevitably wear off. I doubt it though, given the attendance figures thus far.

I'd say we are experiencing an inflation of away fans due to curiosity - I'd expect average away support to drop by up to 50% next season for games that are not "key" to the opposition.

| All this percentage increase is a load of rubbish and totally deceiving. The fact that the away supporters are up well over 50%for both Hull and Cas mean our attendance has risen, it's nothing to do with the home support. Hardly progress ay?

Just because you don't understand it, Statistics are great for making things look good, and a far way of doing this is percentages, raw figures on their own mean nothing if there is not a level field on which to compare, Saints 2nd match saw about a 17% drop on the first game against in attendance and we took virtually nobody and they won but still the crowd was down but up on last seasons by 85%, but against us the crowd was up 111% on last season.

No I do understand and they're deceiving Pev, if you take away the extra away support the two clubs brought compared to last year. Your looking at about 4k for the Cas and 3.5k for the Hull game. So if we're relying on staticts bumped up by away fans to 'make ourselves look good' then we really are struggling.

correct, but one part of the master plan was bring in more away fans and hence more cash on the door, so if the away support is up 50% thats a lot of wonga, getting more home fans is a whole new ball game.
ps i got an email from Dave Tarry yesterday, but only to say my email was spamming so that another 1000 or so contacts for the club to email.

| 3,983 – Against Hull fc last year – So say Hull brought around 600 last year – this year they brought around 1,800. The increase in the crowd was 1,203. So they brought 1,800 this year a whole 1,200 more than last which when you add 1,200 onto last years figure it brings it up to 5,183. This years crowd against Hull was 5,186. ( & that’s going off the bigger figure given), That’s a home crowd of 3,383 roughly the same as last year.
3,587 – Last season against Cas say they brought 300 and this year they brought 1,500, so add 1,200 onto that attendance and it brings it up to 4,787. The attendance was 5,242. That’s a home crowd of 3,745.
That’s a drop of 362 home supporters in just one game. Going of these figures and having won our last 2 Im guessing the attendance on Friday will be 3.1k.
Now bearing in mind it was the first ever SL game at the new stadium, people being curious etc & it was on a Saturday so most people cant use the work excuse it’s a god dam poor attendance. Granted the weather may have put a few off.
Also if you take into consideration last years first game of the season saw a crowd of 5,929 and Saints probably brought the same amount as what Castleford brought to us this season around the 1.5k mark, then the home crowd is actually down on last year. For anyone who thinks we had more home fans at this seasons first game compared with last years is sadly mistaken. Even if Saints last year brought 2,000 to our place that’s still 3,900 home fans an improvement on what we had this year.
Obviously these away figures are just a guess but they wont be far off.

I wondered how long until you replied, where did you get your facts from? You prove to me they only sold 1,200 and ill kiss your feet. You’re keyword being they sold 1,200 “before” Friday does that include walk up on the day?
If the away ends holds 2,500 you’re honestly not telling me Hull only had 1,200 in there
