People really are missing the point regarding JWs management. Lyrad Red, Early Bath, you keep re-iterating Salford would'nt exist without JW. Well that proves bad management to be in that position of nearly going out of existance. Also 14 coaches in 29 years, that proves bad judgement.Take you rose tinted specs of guys and wake up.'"
I think you're the one that's missing the point here. I don't think anyone's happy with the way things are at the moment, but, unless you know any different, there's no-one else out there willing to do the job. In that respect, the club wouldn't exist without him. If he walked away tomorrow, who would step in and replace him? Any ideas?
As for 14 coaches in 29 years, how does that compare with other clubs? Wigan have had 18 in that time. Have their fans got a mard head on about it?

| Quote Red John="Red John"Swinton once had a young, dynamic looking chairman with fresh ideas, long hair and a diamond stud in his ear. His fresh ideas led to them selling Station Road and ending up playing here there and everywhere.
Wilkie has never looked his age, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.
The problem you have is this "someone fresher". Who is it? He's said numerous times in the past that he would sell up to an appropriate buyer, but no-one has come forward.'"
Your so right there, what a complete and utter tool he turned out to be.!!!!

Over the past few years on various interviews that I've heard & read, JW has made it perfectly clear that if a suitable buyer came forward he would consider a transfer of ownership - IMHO that's the only way forward, but it's never looked likely from anything I've seen'"
This type of quote keeps rearing its ugly head on various threads and its really starting to annoy me.
It was in the early 90's that John Wilkinson telephoned GMR in response to disgruntled supporters telephoning the radio show and the presenter at the time questioning the running of the club. It was a Sunday afternoon phone-in to the then rugby league hour and Salford supporters were returning home down the East Lancs after another humiliation against one of our local rivals, The presenter of the show asked 'live' for a response from John Wilkinson to which he duly responded by telephoning in.
First and foremost John Wilkinson 'DID NOT STATE' he would sell the club 'NOR DID HE STATE THE CLUB WAS FOR SALE'! He stated that 'IF' someone approached him who would in 'HIS' opinion be in a better position to run the club for the benefit of the club then he would 'CONSIDER' stepping down as Chairman.
As a side issue to this, it was obviously an early indication of how supporters felt even way back then of the ineptness of the Salford Board for this to be discussed 'live' on radio. At that time I beleive the club was not in as much of a financial mess as it appears to be in today and was still run on a semi-proffessional basis. The early alarm bells were well and truely ringing, which brings us back to the present where the situation has snowballed in to near catastrophic proportions, i.e. £4m in debt and no major assets e.g. owning ones own ground.
I'm still not aware that John Wilkinson has ever said the club is for sale nor has he ever put it on the market or said he is in search for a new buyer?
If the club was to enter the verge of bankruptcy, the clubs creditors could ask the High Court to allow the sale of the club which would possibly overrule (IMO) the wishes of John Wilkinson as he seems again IMO not to want to relenquish his position.
Its OK for supporters on here to drag up statements from the past and interpret them otherwise but until I hear that John Wilkinson 'HAS' put the club on the market 'FOR SALE' then I will choose see it otherwise.

[u And were do I praise JW for having good judgement and good management skills ? I Dont. [/u
I am simply stating [u fact's[/u. and the obvious truth which is, had JW decided to step down and stop putting money into the club we would now be in a worse position than we currently are. I wear no rose tinted glasses. I am simply pointing out the fact's which for some reason, you keep choosing to ignore. Here they are again:
Salford wouldnt be here if it wasnt JW. I think having a club to support is a good thing at the very least.
If Someone else who wanted to lose money in a failing business, JW would step down tommorrow.
Besides is it not testament to JW for keeping a failing bussiness afloat in this bussiness busting economical period? As previously mentioned Rugby club's arent money spinner's, there passion and pride for people who care. Im not for one minute suggesting the club has been "managed" or "judged" properly over the last 20-30 year's, I'm simply pointing out were lucky we havent got a club which has fallen into administration.
So open your eye's and read my post's properly instead of reading what you want, and if your still not happy, I'm sure Warrington will welcome you with open arm's.

So nearly 20 year's ago JW announced on radio he would "consider" an applicant to take over the club should one approach him? Is that not enough evidence to suggest that should someone approach him he would consider them.....Oh hang on... it is. Were Man City up for sale when they were approached with a buy out. I think not yet, they too were'nt being managed very well at the time. It goes without saying if someone approached JW and put a a good enough deal on the table :
a) It would filter down thru the fan's
b) be possibly made public to put pressure on the board to sell out.
Regardless JW has kept this club afloat along witht the board and there money.

Why is it you keep rebounding the same old answer "salford would'nt be here if it was'nt for JW". Is that the best you can come back with?
Seen as though you like FACTS ,
Heres a few for you.
What has Salford achieved since 1982?
Nothing . Was a yoyo club until relegation was stopped.
Have we improved as a club.?
No club has no assets, A £4 million debt, crowds decreasing. A ground what is not ours.

It's disgusting, but there's a handful on here who are now gleefully rubbing their hands at the idea of the club going under. And after all my hard work slating the quality of Warrington's fans last season!..
This forum gets more embarrassing by the day.
