| It all kicked off right in front of me the kids (9 &13) and Jo's family. We were behind the crush barrier where it all happened.
Yes the salford supporters there were being idiots. From the off they were doing the usual wire chants however as boisterous as they were they weren't causing any trouble. Then in the second half for some reason more bouncers turned up and some police arrived. Once the Police arrived things started to change. They guys started doing all the anti police chants they could think of. Then at one point as something messed up during the game, one of them threw a full placky glass of beer down aimed at the police. This was like a red rag to a bull and you could see the police were after someone. They then however decided to get 2 young lads. The first went quietly. The second tried to dodge them for a bit. When the copper got his hands on him that's when it all went tits up. A women who I can only presume was the lads mum grabbed the copper and started pulling him off with a few other guys. This caused the police who were there and the bouncers with them to charge in ( to protect their officer). At this point the fists and hats went flying. Followed by what must have been 20 keystone cops arriving and wading in.
For what its worth we were stood with a few wire supporters. All of which couldn't understand why the police had come for these 2 lads inparticular as they hadn't been doing anything worth chucking out for that we could see, and they were stood right directly in front of us.
At the end of it all they got the lad and off they went.
At the end of the game when we came out. The 2 lads were just outside the stadium. So they had just been flung out and not arrested.
Now if the police knew they were going to do this why couldn't they have made this clear when they approached the 2 lads instead of just trying to heavy handedly grab them and pull them out?
Yes the salford supporters ( if you can call them that) were being a right royal pain in the . Yes they were a disgrace to the club and us fellow supporters who had to explain to the wire supporters we were chatting with that they didn't share a brain cell between them. And the club would be better off without them.
However the police and bouncers made a huge issue out of seemingly nothing. Came in far to heavy handedly and caused the whole event to escalate to a situation it would never have reached had they either left things alone or gone about things differently.

Good summary Fungus. Think that's how most of us saw it.
Now, what did the lads mother and a few other guys do to the copper again?

That's probably why they all jumped in... they all wanted a bit of the action!

| Perhaps the Rugby League should ask Warrington why they use Night Club Bouncers on match day for what is a family sport. Each time I have been to the HJ these bouncers have tried to "kick it off" they have no negotiation skills whatsoever and just hit out when confronted by any situation which is where a trained steward not an ape in an orange hi-viz comes into there own.
No doubt the RL would do nothing as Warrington seem to be the big money boys now.

| Good, well balanced summary Fungus. Fault on both sides, embarrassing all round.

| Pleased your lad was`nt hurt Tall Red , you probably suffered evey parents nightmare of being in the wrong place through no fault of your own.
Did`nt see anything untoward as we were stood at the other side of the terrace with a Wolves supporting neighbour but did pick up a vibe on the way out of the ground something had gone on.
Hope your son gets to the Willows when he`s ready.

| To be honest if I shouted at police and then threw my ale at them, I would deserve everything I got.

And no-one on here has suggested otherwise.
However, if YOU shouted at police and threw YOUR ale at them, would you then expect them to assault a 4yr old child that you had nothing to do with? Or perhaps eject two fans who you had nothing to do with?? Or blame all Wire fans for you behaviour???
As I posted towards the end of the last page, there was fault on both sides and the whole thing was (or at least should have been) very embarrassing for all concerned.
Not sure how your post changes that, or adds to this thread?
