Eden's defence is poor, but if he can at least get back and paw at the breaking opposition player, it might give some of our other defenders time to get back and complete the tackle.'"
I agree, but this will only help us when the opposition break through our defensive line further up the pitch. It's not very useful when we are defending our own try line.

| Quote: Early Bath "Many are critical on what at this stage of the season looks a very shrewd move.
Harris has seen immediately that we are just far too slow & old for this level and he only has Elastoplast to help him plug the leaks.
I can only believe that the Loan Players - Owen/Evalds etc are there for the season so Iestyn has to look elsewhere.
So far 3 players (If Eden does come in) are younger and quicker than our existing players - even Platty is 3 years younger than Martin Gleeson.
Thus far - I am very impressed with Harris in identifying the problems and trying to improve the squad.'"
Yes Eden is quick and elusive and we do desperately need some pace in our backline, this was never more evident than at Leeds on Monday, but Eden is not the answer IMO. He’s a player who at this moment in time we can’t afford to carry, he is a defensive liability and some of the mistakes he makes are ridiculous. He will may well make a 60 yard break and then for some unknown reason the ball will just pop out of his grasp or he will chuck the ball into touch, very very strange! Some of the comments that have been made about him being the next Bill Slater are laughable.
If we're after outside backs I’d much rather we went in for someone like Chris Riley who’s on loan at Wakefield (and I'm not his biggest fan either) or even try and make a season long loan bid for Dom Manfredi.
A player we should do everything to try and sign for next season is Ben Jones-Bishop – I was disappointed that we didn’t make more of an effort to get him for this season knowing full well Briscoe was off to Leeds.

| Agree 100% about BJB and you would think that someone like that will be targeted, I though have to disagree about Eden as when you look at what Gleeson has contributed this season he has lost his last ounce of pace and has turned into a defensive liability.
I'd be happy next season for a backline of Locke, Dixon, S'au, BJB, Johnson as then we go from slow and pedestrian to having a real threat with our pace.

The irony of all ironies coming from you two, bleeding hell.
Fine, if you (and Mike Ehrmantraut, whoever he may be) want me to start (ha!) contributing, I will do:
I, too, applaud the fact that Harris is seemingly trying to improve the squad and have heard that he's told certain individuals that he does see as being up to the job that they'll be out of the door soon enough. Hopefully we'll start to see that come to fruition sooner rather than later.
However, Greg Eden? I can only repeat what has been said above. Quick paced and capable of some good things going forward, but a defensive liability known for producing a number of daft errors. We desperately need to improve our defence - this, to my mind, isn't the right way to go about that.

Agreed but there aren't many speedsters who nail every tackle available at this time of the season who can be brought in under the cap.
This might all be academic as training with the team and getting any type of contract are two different things.
Said it elsewhere if the Doc is going for Locke significant money will need to be released by getting rid of some of the under performers, if for some reason he can't get Locke or a quality back from the NRL/SL then there is no need wasting the money so short term deals until the end of the season work for me and then Harris has much more options in the market.
The RU season ends soon and with the noises made about that avenue I fully expect a signing or two from rugby.

Why not kill two birds with one stone and try to sign Foster from the Bulls. He's got pace, he can finish and he's also an outstanding goal kicker.

Said that a couple of times but got shot down. I'd have tried too look at Eliot Kear before the Bulls got taken over as always rated him as gets a fair few tries and can cover right across the back three.

It still amazes me how a coach of Noble's experience spent all that money but failed to realise that he needed a decent goal kicker. Quality goal kickers are worth their weight in gold and win you close matches.
Like the saying goes ‘Yorkshire born and bread. . thick in’th head. Like a kid in a sweet shop not realising he/she has just spent their dinner money. Unforgivable.

All fair points, but if what we're bringing in doesn't improve significantly on what we've got then is there any point making the short term switch?
Fingers crossed that, in a few month's time, we're all looking back at this and laughing...

You don't think that Eden offers more than Williams or Gleeson? I do as he has the skills of a halve and the pace of a winger.
And I'd still rather have him at full back than Platt.

| What's up with your current full back? From the games I've seen he's been your best player.

| If this is a short term deal to cover for the injury to Jake/Greg or to cover until a big signing then i can see the point as options are limited.
Otherwise I don't see it as adding anything to the team. I'm sure Wigan must ahve a player we can loan
