As I said I only joined today but have read the forum for a long time and every post from him seems to be Ratchford this and Ratchford that. Since Goulding came he has also slagged Goulding off at every turn, presumably because Ratchford's spot on the wing is under threat. He even started a thread on the Wigan forum last week demanding that Wigan take Goulding back and tried to blame him for 4 tries.'" no if u would have read 1 off my early post it says my brothers son played with stefan at pats and could see this lads potential so why is it being wasted, also i live in ashton so i listen to wigan fans who are also slagging goulding off so dont give me any off that,

| Other than the defensive lapse and the suicide pass in-goal Smith wasn't that bad anyway. He even showed a bit of an attacking mind when he dabbed a kick through and tried to regather in the 2nd half, and was a little unlucky not to but it got put into touch by Hull - that's when he picked up the knock when he collided with Horne I think.

He could have probably tried to run over Horne who isnt the strongest of players. It all happens in a split second and ultimately I would say he did the right thing, its just a pity that Myler dropped it.

Thank you, Malc: |

| I thought Hull's pack played very well, particularly in defence.
Jeremy Smith should put in a bit more of an effort with ball in hand. On the occasions I have seen Smith play, including the times I watched him Down Under, I have felt underwhelmed. I would have thought both Ratchford or Paul would be better options at 6.

The same bloke who said we would be a embarassment to SL.
I do not listen to anything that to$$er says.
He does not like Salford so any chance he gets to slag us off he will do it.
Classic Stevo commentary at the Bratfud v Stains game Friday "Bradford have got no second phase" just as they went over for a try

| Well saturday, we had a go, started very brighly got the lead then lost the momentum when Stapo and Cashmere went off letting Hull back into the game.
As for Rachford v Smith who should be standoff i feel smith is the better player at the moment when he was on the field on saturday we looked very good at times with ball in hand.
The only problem (well its not a massive problem) was the last set of the match we win the ball at the scrum, myler goes for glory, get stopped its shipped to Turner who bullets one to Rachford to grubbers the ball dead when there was nothing on.
Id just wished that Wilshire had recieved the ball instead of turner in that position, experience is key in that position and i feel if a more experience member of the team would have took responsability things mite have been different.
Im sure Turner and Rachford will benefit from it and probably mcrae will probably tell them what they should have done.
Im sure in the future in the same situation Rachford would cut inside and kick the ball back to where it came from with the number loaded up and Hulls defence over to one side its Keeps the dream alive till the ball bounces.
I was furious at the time but with no relegation it allows the likes of turner and Rachford to learn from that a be better players .
Great effort by the team thoughout just a shame we couldnt get a result

| I just felt we really should have beaten what was (& is) a very, very poor Hull side.
We have come on leaps and bounds since Caravan Park and really thats all down to John Wilsheres attitude with others. We can forgive him for his nightmare on Saturday.

I dont know how you can compare them playing wise at the moment, their both playing entirely different postions, plus Ratchford is playing out of position where he doesnt get to see the ball as much as Smith.

Smith is a steady eddie kind of player, he has a brain, he'll make stuff happen around him putting people though holes, the kind of player we have been lacking since Clinch and Dunnerman, this kind of player is what salford need to achieve sucess.
Im not saying Smith is the finished article and should be put in the same bracket at Clinch and Dunnerman yet but we have all seen signs recently that Smith is getting his game together a lot of teams are targeting him in the defensive line to try and knacker him out so he isnt as effective.
Rachford on the other hand is a special individual who can make somthing out of nothing, With Myler and Rachford playing together consistantly at this level you would have the same kind of play we had with Robinson/Dorn Both dancing at the line but no Pivot linking the attack up and giving us options eather side. That and the fact Rachford is still developing physically and would get targeting in the defensive line because of his physical stature its too much of a risk imo at the moment.
Myler/Rachford worked last season against part time less fit defences so gaps were there to be had, this level you need a bit of grit and invension to open up a defence, in 3 years time and both have experience of superleague and developed physically to withstand week on week superleague action ill have a look again.

I am neither a Smith hater or do I think Ratchford is the saviour and I wasnt going into the ins and outs of who can do this, who can do that, I was merely referring to your qoute of who you feel is the better player at the moment, when they have been playing in differnet positions, Ratchford hasnt even been given a sniff at 6 this season and no body knows what the outcome will be until it happens in SL.
