| I believe there was a clause in his contract, meaning if Craig Sandercock was sacked he could leave. He returned to the NRL with West Tigers but subsequently 'retired' to follow aspirations to become a professional boxer.

Would be a fantastic signing

Isn't a successful club about getting a good mix of players that offer different attributes rather than just a team of highly paid superstars? I think some people honestly think we can buy our way to silverwear by signing the most expensive players available. It's a bit sickening that some people turn their nose up and rubbish players we would have welcomed happily a couple of years back.

Marwan has said the new signing used to play as a winger.

I agree, but rugby league is a sport which is more about being a good team than a good set of individuals. We proved that last year. As a team we probably have more "big names" than any other team but we seem to be struggling to play fluently as a team.

It is, and I see the point you're trying to make.
However, we have a totally different squad than a couple of seasons ago. Should the backroom team and owner opt for the weaker player if two players became available? Should they hold their cash and ambition in check for the sake of parity for a the team of yesteryear? Like a newly promoted Premiership side only signing League 1 players because that's where they were a couple of seasons ago.
If a team and Club desires success it needs to bring in what it sees as the best at that particular time. Sometimes that will be the type of player you're suggesting, and sometimes it wont be. People are not turning their noses up in any way. They just observe that for the team to have a chance at greatness its ambition in the transfer market is a signal of its intent.

Surprisingly Paterson turned out on the Wing for West Tigers last season on at least two occasions ,
and he kicks.

How are people not turning up their noses when they refer to a player as rubbish when he's scored over 1000 superleague points in 100 games?

Hope people aren't going to be underwhelmed like they were when they announced Weller Hauraki on Gmr after all the hype?

You'd have to ask them.
For me, personally, I've already stated why we don't need him. But to highlight a few of them -
He's lightweight.
He's not quicker than what we already have.
He's not stronger than what we already have.
We already have multiple competent kickers in the team.
He's a poor defender.
He'll be targeted with high balls.
He'll be targeted on 4th tackle + plays.
He's not great under a high ball.
He's not got a great attitude.
He's scored plenty, by being on the end of passes and kicking goals. Something I'd rather have a bigger, faster, more competent winger doing.
Each to their own, of course. You rate him, fair enough. Others don't. I don't, regardless of his scoring record. There's more to players than stats.
