How many Chelsea fans heard of Abramovich before he took over at stamford bridge or how many Man City fans ever heard of Sheik Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan?

There's hundreds or maybe even thousands of very successful people in this country that i nor probably any other poster on this forum would recognise if we walked past in the street.

Anyway Marshy what point is it your trying to make?'"

You beat me to it Red League. You can add a long list of other RL club owners to that as well. I just don't understand the point I think Marshy's trying to make of having to know somebody first to make them credible, genuine and accepted.

Kaleed in the shop this morning found a pound so he could be the next tycoon of middle eastern origin to buy into a RL team, I think with that kind of windfall he could buy and finance Swinton for years to come.

Imagine a real force in RL again just down the road in Leigh.

I cannot believe how people can be critical of Dr Koukash. He saved our club. Without him, we would be history. We wouldn't have had that wonderful win against Widnes at Magic weekend. We can now look forward to a great year next year and for the foreseeable future.

That semi final defeat in 1935 sickens me to this day.

Well, Marshy, your mate certainly knows how to predict winners!

Record books are things to be proud of but not yardsticks to assess a club: witness the mighty Oldham, the invincible Huddersfield, the winning Manningham.

Did not know where to post this but as this thread it about him, here is a post from the Warrington board.

Quote: "Despite having an opinion about someone who I think is maybe a touch too outspoken what he did after the match for a charity was fantastic upstairs in the hospitality.

He won the raffle for a signed shirt and there was a charity coming round called Homestart i think it was and he decided to auction the shirt he had won to the room and pass the proceeds to charity.

Once the shirt had reached £300 he added on 2 tickets to join him at chester racecourse all drink and food included... the auction soon rose to £1000, then he added 2 tickets to royal ascot again food and drinks included... all in all raised £1500 for charity in the end and it was all spur of the moment.

Fantastic gesture - even if a little arrogant, that charity is £1500 better off'"

Can his stock get any higher? Obviously his outburst has rubbed opposition fans up the wrong way, but please tell me, how great has it been having such a man embracing the family game culture within rugby league. Now I won't be attending F/R meeting, could it be possible to ask him to replicate this offer to Salford fans with the proceeds going to F/R.

Just a thought.....

Hillbilly , my tips are Legendary , mostly as losers icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif but I do know about Horse Racing , as I say I follow Sir Henry Cecil on the Flat and Nicky Henderson over the jumps , I have met the Good Doctor a couple of times before he got involved with Salford , a very nice and Charming guy , no doubt , but he doesn't have any Class Horses , you wont see him in the winners enclosure at Royal Ascot , or Glorious Goodwood , his fave track is Chester .

Quick view from a Wire - Monaghan threw the ball into the crowd; thankfully players in RL (unlike other spectator sports) are still able to interact with the crowd; some plank had a rush of blood and threw a plastic bottle ....

Neither the ball nor the plastic bottle were ever going to injure anyone (nor were they really meant to), and if anyone attended our away game at Widnes, they'd know that's why glass bottles aren't allowed ..... Westwood handed the bottle to a steward, and no, he didn't pull a face at Salford supporters - thats what he always looks like!

Before things got out of hand (with both stewards & supporters equally to blame) your chairman intervened and managed to diffuse the situation so that everyone could carry on watching the game. Job done. All those concerned in the incident are clearly shown on TV/CCTV cameras, and can be dealt with in a civilised manner when things have calmed down.

MK's comments afterwards should've waited until he'd at least reviewed any TV footage himself, but he did a lot more good than harm yesterday, and should be applauded ...... which seems to be what he's doing all 'round since he took over!

Great gesture off the Dr.

It's a shame that these snippets of info get lost among the hate that comes from some opposition fans.
