You could create a mirror on a seperate domain to achieve this under a new URL.
Alternatively you could use a http redirect from the reds.co.uk index page. If you want to get really smart you could do a http redirect on your DNS Server.

| Quote: SCR-SeaDiver "I can only congratulate Dr Koukash on the timing of this.
Just as we reach the nadir with 2 consecutive heavy defeats we now have the coaching staff installed, new branding, and the optimism of new signings to strengthen the squad.
Not only that,he has made the very important addition of making it known how he valued the top class support the players were given from the magnificent followers on Sunday.
This must have given a huge lift to everyone as we now aim for 2 consecutive wins for the first time in 2013.
On another forum someone has hinted that this 'Red Devils' branding may alienate any potential new soccer supporters on the blue side from giving rugby league a go.Any thoughts ?'"
SCR, there was only ever one Red Devils and that was/is Salford I must applaud Ming in this instance for reverting back to using the clubs previous nickname.
I can also see that it will assist and divert attention away from the dead duck which is the City of Salford Stadium company following yet another hand out from the council. The more he moves away from a connection with the council the better it will be in terms of public relations.
Incidentally for all those who have had City Red Tattoos I can supply some tipex .......in Blue.

What's the point? reds looks easier on the eye in the address bar rather than salfordreddevils. I've always thought the shorter a domain name for marketing purposes the better.

A French Rugby League Team

It's a recurring nickname in Francophone countries.

The point I was trying to make was that you could have the web data stored at reds.co.uk but host the mirror at salfordreddevils.co.uk to ensure that you stay high in Google search requests. But yes, I agree that reds.co.uk is much better.

Eh? LOL! A bit of getting used too?????????????????????????????????
We've been known as 'The Red Devils' throughout the sporting world since the 1930's! Get your head out of the sand!

Yes, because we're [ialways[/i referred to as the Salford Red Devils aren't we? Bit of an exaggeration that we're known throughout the sporting world by the name. Yes we were the original team to be called that and had boom periods during the 30's and 70's, but the average person wouldn't have a clue about the team's existence and its historic association with the name.
We might have had the nickname since the '30s and we might have it on banners etc, but I rarely, if ever, hear anyone actually refer to us explicitly by the name (bearing in mind I've not been watching as long as most on here). We've been called Salford Reds/City Reds for almost 20 years now. Of course it'll be a bit strange at first changing the actual team name and being officially referred to as Salford Red Devils.

| We also have used the name "Salford Reds" before ... in the 30's.
Baseball.
Risman was good at it.

| Now the majority,if not all,are fully behind the name change and rebranding would it be a good idea to make an offer to the school pupils in the city,to come up with a modern Devil logo ? The previous ones, and the one used by the Old Trafford club, are a bit old hat when compared with the imagery now used on computer games etc.
It would involve the schools, pupils, teachers, parents and lift the profile of the club and involvement of the locals.
Could also consider asking what wording to put around the new logo. For example 'Salford Red Devils' above or below the new figure;with or without pitchfork and whether a motto should be adopted.Having the date of when they last won the top division or Challenge Cup may inspire some players wanting to achieve.
I quite like the motto used by Everton FC - "Nil Satis Nisi Optimum", meaning
"Nothing but the best is good enough".
As Latin is no longer taught or known,a motto based on the area or history may be relevant.
Not that I'm getting involved but my limited knowledge of a devil leads me to think a devil figure breathing fire may be
a modern take on an old idea/belief.

| The more I hear from the Doc the more I like, what fantastic news that we are going back to our heritage, personally I'm over the moon. (as long as the devil is not the one that looked like Shaun Mcrea) I hope he looks through the history books and pulls out one of the finer Devils, as for the wording "Les Diables Rouges" sounds mighty fine to me.
Even the away colours of grey and gold seem fine.
Also it's great to see him acknowledge the fantastic support by the Reds fans on sunday, watching a sub-standard performance on a bad day weather wise with some football match on tv from Trafford.
Very happy....

| Think the away strip colours matching his racing colours is a brilliant bit of cross promotion and opens up a new potential marketing vehicle.
You'd think that when the strip comes out next year that he will surely have this worn by people when he has horses running, I'm not a racing person so I don't know but would he be able to have say a jockey wear a version of the shirt when going to the start or coming away at the finish?
As others have said he certainly has his spies looking and listening to what the fans say as think pretty much universally we have all said that we want to go back to the Red Devils name, let's hope as is said above that a traditional Devil is chosen and not some modern gimmicky version.

| Never liked SCR. When I joined the forum a few months ago I gave myself this name to remind me of our roots and made up we are reverting back to Red Devils. Been watching them for 45 years and must say this is a brilliant move by the Dr. Also a few of my friends are staunch city fans and the name never bothered them. Might actually be worth a visit to the club shop next season!
