| Quote: middleman "I believe Hull tabled a bid for Holdsworth a couple of years ago which prompted Salford to offer him an improved 3 year deal , then Patten signed and the club signed some more ' higher profile players ' ( for Salford ).
however the last two seasons have been the most bizzare i've ever experienced , and after these Holdsworth wanting out wouldn't be a huge surprise to me anyway.
given the depth of the amateur game in the East Riding i've always wondered why the Hull teams always seem to be looking outwards or overseas for half back talent?
It's also perverse that it's Bradford in Admin. but it is Salford who seem to be doing it's best to balance the books who are under constant rumour of losing it's players.
If he does go then thats us pretty much supplying half of SL with half backs in the past few years . and I think that says as much about the lack of talent in the other teams as much as it highlights our inability to retain players.
There's fat lady in the corner and she's clearing her throat, but she's not singing yet ..'"
You do know that Holdswoth is a Aussie dont you?.

An Australian who was languishing in the depths of the NSW Cup competition, unable to get a game for the Canterbury first team.
We took a chance on him, he turned out to be good and the vultures came circling. Unfortunately that's sport for you.

Big deal i made a typo. Another one who thinks that they are a member of the spelling police. I Guess i will see the name H-o-l-d-s-w-o-r-t-h that much next season, i am sure i will be able to spell his name correctly in no time.

Granted, it has some pretty rank areas but even these have improved in recent years.
Time to get rid of the stereotype me thinks.'"
I thought this was a rugby site, not lets take childish snipes at a city. (not aimed at you) Everywhere has it good and bad places,Hull is no different from everywhere else. How people can call everybody bad names if they live in a certain place beats me.We are all different surely?
I don`t come from Hull so I have no reason to defend it,other than to say lets not tar everybody with the same brush eh?
I am sure any player who comes to Hull could move to Swanland if he finds Preston Road too much for him.

I agree. A good sensible post. (Cue an "it's only banter" comment).
As for Holdsworth, the bloke is excellent. A thoroughly professional, fit and highly skilled player. In his first year with us I remember commenting that I couldn't think of a better NSW player. Even now he ranks not too far behind Todd Carney IMO.
I'd be very sorry to see him go.

| First it was Patten, then Smith, then Gleeson, now Holdsworth possibly Broughton, and now Moon flirting for a move. This tells me a sinking ship is being deserted. A decent three quarter line can't get out the door quick enough. If these decent departures aren't replaced with quality for next season the wooden spoon will be ours again especially with this pitiful pack.

so which club will get the wooden spoon then, you have not said who you are now supporting, but then again Bradford who should be selling and are a sinking ship are being supported all the way by the RFL.

| At the risk of bringing this back on topic, isn't it illegal to approach a player who is under contract?

Not if the club he is contracted to allows them to speak to that player.

Not really - it tells me more that your continual bile has eventually got through to them.

| Shame that the most exciting back line we've had in 15 years (Sini-Naylor-McAvoy-Rogers) is about to fall to bits as well.
