Yes, from a neutral's perspective, it looked pretty shabby.....You won't have won any new fans who were watching, with a mind to visit at a later date.
Your marketing department needs to go to work big time.

Pretty difficult marketing that load of rubbish especially when RL is a minority sport in this area! Until a mystery millionaire comes along and Salford actually put a team together who can compete and win trophies then those type of gates and less will continue!

Totally agree, but that tonight was pathetic,it was`nt snowing when the fixtures were set,it wasn`t freezing cold when we had 10000 at the willows for our last game their,i if i was`nt a Salford supporter would`nt know we had moved, let alone been playing tonight, and i live in the heart of Salford. How i feel its get the prawn sandwich brigade in for a jolly knees up and balls to the true fans, put them in the cow sheds.

there was a full pagr advert in this weeks Advertiser, but unfortunately half the city don't get it delivered anymore now it is edited in Stockport, perhaps we as fans take on the mantle and try and sell the club to others, because we live in a city with some of the lowest circulations for local press in the country so that may not be an option. We need to mobilise and print off posters and ask local shops to put them up because that is the only way people will get to know.

Bigpev, I watched the game on TV and in all honsety, no matter how much extra advertising you want to do, you won't get fans turning up to watch a team who despite getting there noses in front failed to push on or show any backbone for a fight to match the oposition.Salford still remain at best a good championship team in there present format.
That advert to which you refer was actually in the advertiser on two pages but that doesn't matter, nor does posting endless posters. At the end of the day that stadium was built there so millons of care drivers would see it day in and day out, which they clearly do and yes i appreciate unless you know what it's used for your not likely to come but that is where advertising should be concentraited.Any true Salford fan from the Willows era will go come what may.The club will have lost fans due to it's move that is inevatable, but your club has a ready made audience passing every day and the only way you will get close to hitting that 8k breakeven is to get a team on the pitch who wants to compete.

Pathetic as I feared! The "new shed" was a joke and totally out sung by Cas fans! We don't deserve super league let alone a new stadium.......and as for the team!

I have seen the stick you get on here, some of it maybe justified when you get a little exercised like I am now but this lot just don't get it! You pay peanuts you get monkeys! You do what you have always done you get what you have always had! 10 years they say this was in the making and they allow the whole rugby world to see an empty stadium on tv! They should have handed them out to the 25000 that visited the Trafford centre today despite the snow!
The reason for my attitude is that we have played our trump card and failed-miserably! We can't blame the willows anymore for a crap team, no fans and a poor atmosphere!
You'll all say give it time but you only get one chance to make a first impression and we blew it spectacularly!

I feel for you Shedite, this has been going on for 30 years with these fiasco's and it isn't going to get any better until the right people are put in the right places regarding off the field matters.... How right was Matt Parish......

Enough said, now is the time to all stick together, and try for the sake of our beloved club, because if we don`t who will,to come together, this is our last chance lads.

| To be fair I thought the attendance was not that bad as an outsider. Given that as an outsider , most of what I've heard from Salford in the off season has been more about the coach leaving than the new stadia, then I imagine that is what most potential new fans have seen. So any new fans has to be an improvement given the offseason.
Salford held their own for most of the match, it was not a whitewash unlike the pitch, but Salford are always going to need a full side out to match other teams on the field. The loss of Godwin takes out a key player. Then there was the forced change with the fella who got knocked senseless by the ball in his face.
With the turmoil in the offseason I was actually expecting alot worse for Salford, maybe even challenging Widnes for the wooden spoon. Most expect Castleford to make the top 8 this year, if you can get your pack going a little better it may not be all doom and gloom. Smith had a few nice touches and swept the line well from some kicks. But he needs back up at half back and there are a fair few knocking about SL nowa days. Don't know about the salford academy, but I know some wigan fans have mentioned they have a young fella they hope to be a good prospect for the future. Maybe worth looking at who is out there on a loan deal if holdworth is not up to it.

The figure of 5,242 was announced inside the ground during the game. So quite where Sky's apparent 4k figure you mention came from is beyond me.
That shouldn't detract from the fact that it's still 3,000 short of what we should have been pulling in at the bare minimum.

| I am disappointed with the attendance, and disheartened because people at the club must have put a lot of effort into organising everything for last night, and getting the match on in the first place, given the weather. It's just typical that the snow had to come on the day of our first game.
The weather would have been a big deciding factor for a lot of the fringe fans looking to pay on the day, and the attendance has clearly been skewed by the snow. How many people were put off by the snow? Had the attendance been an extra 800 or so to 6000, would it have been so bad? Still disapointing for the first game, but I'd be happy with a 6k average crowd for the season. The next home game will give a better indication of how well we're doing in terms of crowd.
Had it been at the Willows, same weather conditions, still on Sky etc, I think the crowd would have been significantly less than what it was. So at least there was some improvement, although not as much as anyone hoped.
