| Ha! Well done mate,I though that would happen as soon as I wrote it.
Good luck to you all with your new ground.
Lets hope the council lend us the 2million for ours too because in the name of fair play that wouldnt be unreasonable would it?

| Reading the report in the MEN makes me wonder why on earth if Peel have such a vested interest in theclub and stadium they havent tried to buy the club from JW?.
I would think it wouldnt need a great deal of money to buy from Wilky and if they truelly know the stadium is going ahead they know that the future of the club is secure and is an excellent investment oppertunity.

Doesn't the club run at a loss?
AFAIK, without JAW dipping deeper and deeper into his pockets (as Howard Clague does) the club would've gone down the spout years ago.
Therefore, unless I'm missing something, Peel would be buying a club that would be a drain on their resources.

Yes I think they do, my point being that if the club moves to the new ground wouldnt they then start to run on an even keel and maybe turn a profit?, pretty sure a company the size of Peel being the owner would make the club a more marketable prospect and draw more sponsership both for the club and the ground. They surely also would have a greater marketing stragey for the club than the couple of trained monkeys the club currently seem to use.

My big worry if they did own the club is , he isnt a Rugby League fan, maybe in a passing phase but not a dedicated fan as J.W & H.C.& I.W. are.He could soon tire of this little business & where would we be then. I know John has said he would sell if the right offer came along, but he has always said it would have to be the right person aswell.

Bit of a leap of faith here but bare with me.
I have often thought why do the dedicated fans not organise an weekly £1 per person investment in lucky dip tickets, say at the end of the year you end up with a decent balance you give it to the club to invest in the youth policy as the Turkey does, if you were to by chance win the jackpot the money is used to buy the club from JW and ask him to stay on as chairman but this time useing not his own money but the money the lottery win generates in interest or investment.
All a little pie in the sky I know but i'd have no problem throwing my pound a week into the pot, whats the worst that can happen we make some money to help Alan Hunt keep the cream of the young talent at the club and happy.

| Its basically Forever Reds who are behind investing in the youth policy at the club along with some of the Turkey who are members of Forever Reds. That is what our aims are to help Alan keep the youngsters he nurtures, along with helping the physio with needed equipment.
As I have posted in the past, I would be willing to throw money into a pot, as members of Forever Reds, we already do that by supporting all the fundraising events we organise, but we cant even get fans to buy a raffle ticket most of the time.
When fans were moaning about the calibre of players signed for the coming season I suggested then if all the season ticket holders put £100 in the club could go & sign "a big name player", but only had a couple of folk offering, so, giving £1 every week & they wont get a personal return on the "investment" is a non starter in my mind.

Quite a nice idea, but there are far better investments, and far better gambles, than lucky dip tickets.

There may well be but then I guess that's why you are a merchant banker and i'm just a lowly car hire executive
The thing with the lucky dip tickets is it adds a little excitement to things and at the very least i'd say at the end of the each year you'd have a few quid to hand over to theclub to help the kids out a little.
If someone were willing to organise i'd throw my money.

| Alright Red's fans.
Hope you get the news you want before xmas regarding the state of play of your new ground.
Super League is a much poorer place without The Red's.
Just been shown the detailed designs of our new ground that will be released on Mon. It's fan bloody tastic! I'm sure you'll see them when they get released on mon. Thing's are moving fast in Wakefield & wish you similar fortunes.
Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

| It might be a good idea for peel holdings to buy the club as they have the money to do so but how will it it the supporter in the pocket as peel holdings are a profit making company. buying the club running at a loss there going to want to change that but the only way i can see them making a prifit is off the everyday supporter. So not sure weather peel holdings buying us out might not be what the club is looking for. Also if they wanted the club surly they would have made a bid by now.

neil72 I take it that your "it" is actually hit!
That your "prifit" is a profit!
That your "weather" is whether!
That your "surly" is surely!
I have asked for an enigma machine for Christmas to keep up with all the coded messages.
Happy Christmas

| Let's face it, keeping SCR going has been a labour of love by JW and the other directors.
I cannot see any way on this earth that Peel Holdings would buy the club - they are a property development and management company not a leisure business.
Presumably anyone buying the club would either be taking the debt on (which is largely the amount owing to the directors, put in as loans over the years) or paying it off as part of the purchase price - not an attractive prospect with virtually no chance of getting your money back - we need another JW - wealthy local businessman with a LOT of spare cash and a deep love of Salford City Reds, as anyone taking over the club is going to be dipping into their pocket for many years to come.
