I know Monaghan is a great finisher, but is he better than the wingers you already have ? (sorry, not sure who they are - without googling !)

I will mss the exciting artistry of Rangi but its clear that the Antipodeon clique wanted to collect more mercenary money elsewere. Very sad but time to move on and build with those wanting to win with Salford. Tim remains the KEY signing.

But for the life of me I cannot understand why Hansen has gone there surely he would've attracted another SL club.'"
Just goes to show, what was brought in was only good enough for championship.

This post could be interpreted by some as bitter but I assure you it isn't. It's just that I can't get my head around it. Why? Fair enough if Leigh were in Superleague next year but why would they want to play at an inferior level in the Championship with no guarantee of promotion next year? Surely it's human nature for players to want to challenge themselves against the best. These players aren't going to improve playing championship rugby and their standard of performance will suffer and only go one way.
It's like a boxer running scared of a tough potential challenger and taking an easy option fight instead because they want to look good for the cameras. I could kind of understand it if they were Leigh born and bread and wanted to play for their home town team before they retired but they're not. It can't be the the money because they were on top dollar here. Anyway if that's the ambition and mental attitude of players at this club no wonder we have come up so short these past 2 years. Furthermore if Tim Sheens is staying as rumoured their decision is even more perplexing unless they were encouraged to go due to us having better options? Bizarre.

| Rangi, Hansen and Paterson all had issues with Marwan prior to Sheens arrival and the decisions about them leaving were all done and dusted before Tim had set foot inside the AJ Bell Stadium. Rangi and Hansen was both money related, brown envelopes and extra payments they felt they were owed and due whereas Paterson was nearly deported from the country due to visa issues. All this was going on whilst Leigh were romping the Championship and were so-called favourites for promotion. Paterson certainly tried to renege on his deal and stay with Salford, but Sheens and Marwan were having non of it.
Maitua isn't up for Super League and wants another season in the Championship playing "easier" games, he's 34-years-old next season so you cant exactly blame him.
I’m thankful to Paterson, Hansen and Maitua for remaining professional and giving their all to the cause until the last minute. Rangi can f*ck off though, the bloke has taken the p*ss out of the fans despite being the highest paid player to ever play for the club. Whilst our lads were preparing for a key game against Widnes last week, Chase was a guest of Beaumonts at the Leigh v Bradford game getting p*ssed up and finalising his deal.

Leigh's failure to gain promotion has really impacted on the future playing careers of these players then? In hindsight Hansen and Paterson would have been better advised agreeing terms subject to Leigh getting promoted. As for Rangi it looks like nobody else in SL wanted to take the gamble.

The trouble is, once you've burnt your bridges there's little chance of going back.
I'm not that sorry to see them go to be honest. It's great having watched the talent that Rangi has in a Salford shirt, but his baggage creates more problems than it's worth. Patterson has been good for us but he made his choices and he's easily replaced, imo. I'm most disappointed in Hansen. Captain of the side with solid links in his family and upbringing at the Club, happy to drop it all and disappear at the drop of a hat. He gives his all and has always given 100% on the pitch, but for the money I can't help think that we could have a more dynamic second-row.
With respect to Leigh, if I was one of their fans I'd be wary of the direction Chase and Hansen have gone over the last few seasons. I can't help think that they will do to Leigh what they have done to us and are basically following the money with scant regard for much else. I have no doubt that they will rip it up in the Championship. Chase facing window-cleaners and bus drivers will do that.
Ultimately I'm happy that Sheens doesn't take any prisoners and I trust that judgement. He wants players with the right attitude, these players obviously don't fit that criteria.

The club needs a whole new direction because we just haven't progressed as expected these past two years. If Marwan supports Sheens by keeping his distance and backing him financially I'm sure we will improve.

The key announcement that I want to hear is that Tim Sheens is staying!!

I agree.
I think MK needs to put his attention to off-field matters and concentrate on that area, leaving the RL side of things to Sheens and the coaching staff. It certainly seems that MK is taking a much more hands-off approach since Sheens arrived which can only be a good thing.

| Two decent signings there. Lui is a reliable sort of player and MM is a big lad who takes some stopping.
