| Im not a Salford fan but as an outsider looking in this looks like a 'last throw of the dice' by Koukash to me. It looks to me as if he's trying to remove as many barriers as possible to fans to see exactly how many can attend without there being any excuses available ie. ticket prices. With Catalans probably bringing no fans it seems to me to be an attempt to gauge exactly how many people are honestly interested in Rugby League in Salford. Potentially, if you dont break the 8k mark, my fear is he will know that no matter what he does he will never get massive crowds and will use this as an excuse to walk away in the future.

I think you also have to take into consideration the fact the team are currently next to the bottom of SL and under performing again, due mainly to many injuries and suspensions. As I've said before admission prices are secondary and it's the product that sells. Just because it's free I still wouldn't expect it to attact thousands more people. Generally if something is free people naturally perceive it as worthless.

| I agree to a certain extent with both the last two posts. But on that basis would you say that the only way to get a true reflection of potential attendances would be to wait until you are in the top four and then make it free admission.

That's right but,let's be honest,there's always a reason.
Sky,weather,M62,stadium,injuries,suspensions,air show,soccer,holidays,shift work,date changes.
Have I missed any?
I don't think there will be a massive crowd, and MK will have confirmation of whatever conclusion he's already drawn.

True but the only one thing you failed to mention is the most important one, a regular winning team of which we haven't had in decades. It's all well and good signing lots of big time charlies but unless the team are delivering results on the field it's won't be effective and increase attendances. Let's be honest how many times over the past 35 years has this club been placed in the top 4? Twice for a couple of weeks over many, many years. Supporters were that shocked we were in 4th place on Easter Monday they were taking pictures of the league table on their mobile phones. How many times has the club made the play-offs since the new SL format was launched 20 years ago? Once and then we got hammered in the first match at Bradford. When was the last time the club went to Wembley? 1969 and every other club in SL has been once, at least 10 years after us. I'd actually take a guess that this club has lost the most Superleague games than any other club since it's launch.
I'm not deluded in thinking this club could attract 10,000-12,000 every home game but I'm sure with a regular winning team over a few years (And a little success) we could at the least attract 7,000-7,500 in this catchment area. Let's be realistic before this club starts to see a lot more through the turnstiles the team has to do there job to shake off the losers tag we have had for years.

| Your right Red Shed - just pray Doctor is learning ALL these factors and doesn't call time on us before we can show how much support there REALLY is out there for the club. All of what has gone before him must be taken into consideration and understood, no knee jerk reactions etc. FWIW I don't think its about ticket prices, its about a winning, competing team week in week out that will bring decent regular crowds and also increased ones when we play certain teams. That's just my view from a long distance away (far from local in Wolverhampton!).
WE REDS, Fans and Club from top to bottom, together, are stronger and given a fair rub of the green and with correct decisions being made we can prove the doubters wrong.... All the best.

| Did we make it free admission for the game we re launched as City Reds vs Gateshead at The Willows? Can't remember but think that pulled in around 5800.

That would be a great quiz question. Anyone about who would have the stats?
Agree with you though generally about the free tickets. Its the winning syndrome without a doubt.

| I'm really not sure about this offer - in general people value what they pay for, however it's quite clear that for many years the product on offer hasn't been worth paying for, just the faithful hard core who keep on no matter what.
Ken Davy did this at Huddersfield a few years back but combined it with announcements to the fans at the game regarding the following year's season ticket offers - I believe that was quite successful for them.
So I'd hope to see some serious marketing effort at the Catalans game aimed at both new spectators and existing fans, without that the exercise is worthless and if it is just being used as a test of potential as has been suggested on another post it could turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

| Quote: BartonFlyer "They certainly did because Martin Vickers was asked about it in Twitter - last year the game that was due to be played on the air show day was re-scheduled - he made it clear that this year's game wouldn't be changed.
My point was more about the fact that both the Stadium & the Airport are owned by Peel - surely a bit of sense could have prevailed?'"
It was my question to Vickers on Twitter. Possibly significantly, he answered that the game would not be moving from the Sunday, he didn't say that the time wouldn't be changed.

Since SL started 19 years ago its actually London Broncos with 304 defeats to Salford's 301, although it's likely we will surpass this soon because London are obviously in the Championship now. For those interested Salford's loss ratio in Superleague is 70%, London's is 65%. Our overall points difference is the worse by some distance at - 4579 pts, 1193 more than any other club.
So there you have it. I think the figures go some way to explain our disappointing attendances and our supporters apathy and frustration. Did somebody mention patience on here recently? It's a miracle the club has any fans left.
