| What facts? Everyone knows Taylor wanted out of Wigan, with a return to Hull his preferred destination. His fiancé was pregnant and they all wanted to be closer to each others family for when the baby was born. Plus the as a Hull lad and a life-long FC fan I am sure it has always been a desire for him. You wouldn't have to look far back on the Wigan board to find pages and pages of criticism over Taylor, particularly when Wane chose not to select him for the majority of last season. Perhaps those games he missed due to Wane not getting his own way, are the reason he hasn't yet made his England debut?
This season I cant think of many more English Super League props that have performed better than Taylor, infact he has a better average gain than all of Peacock, Hill, Walmsley and Cuthbertson. Not bad for someone who is slow and overweight and just a 'good prop' eh? After this season he should be selected in the England squad, end of.
I don't know much about Hopkins, other than he didn't get a look in at Wigan but is impressing for Leigh particularly against full-time opposition. Chris Hill, Kyle Amor and Alex Walmsley have all had similar seasons in the Championship and made the transition to Super League with ease. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Hopkins does the same.
With regards to Jack Hughes, I am fully aware he isn't a prop but my point is he was deemed surplus to requirements at Wigan but whenever I have seen him play has impressed at Huddersfield and been one of their better performers. He has made more tackles than any other Huddersfield player, more carries and more metres than any other Giants back-rower. Sounds like he is excelling to me.

If you think that Taylor has performed better than Walmsley (and this from a Wigan fan) you are seriously deluded. Walmsley has carried the Saints pack this season. Scott Taylor is nowhere near the England squad. Graham, two Burgesses, Walmsley, Amor, Hill and Cooper are all way ahead of him. If he'd carried on his form of 2013 he'd be ahead of all them bar Graham and George Burgess. Blaming Wane is madness. Who do you think spotted his potential in the first place at Hull KR?
Hopkins is doing well in the Championship. Good for him and good for Leigh. But it doesn't follow that he will do it in Super League just because a few others have.
If you knew Jack Hughes wasn't a prop why involve him in your argument?

Walmsley has been our stand out in the pack but carried us is a stretch. Cunningham has rotated our props heavily all season, which has impacted Amor massively. The kids have been superb for the most part also; Savelio, Thompson and Richards were the three on the field who took charge of the Warrington game for instance. Walmsley only played 20 minutes.

Did I miss something? When was Salford's first salary cap breach?

My apologies Iain, I'm getting mixed up with the 14 men on the field points deduction.

Fair enough. I think the point I was trying to make was that Walmsley has rather overtaken Taylor in the pecking order. He has been outstanding for a year or so, when Taylor has gone backwards IMO.
Yes, he may be having a decent season at Salford but whatever anyone thinks about that, he is out of condition compared to when he was at Wigan.

| Taylor hasn't had a 'decent' season at Salford, he's had a fantastic one and is for me and I am sure many others our player of the season.

Taylor has been immense for us, as said above, our player of the season, so far.

Saying someone is having a 'decent' season is meant as a compliment by the way.
I was avoiding the obvious - but since you persist - you are currently 11th out of 12. The bar isn't being set very high here is it? (As an aside it is very sad to see how ordinary Harrison Hansen is right now. Still, he made his choice)
With Dobson and Chase in the team you are easily top 8 - but Taylor has been playing well in a very poor team - at the moment.
Do you really think Taylor is ahead of any of the Burgess twins, Graham, Walmsley, Amor, Hill & Cooper?
As I've said he has the ability to be ahead of most, but currently he is playing Russian Roulette with his career.

| TBF to Aboveusonlypie, I do think Taylor is a tad unfit and looks like he's carrying too much timber to me (I should know about carrying timber! )
Having said that he has been superb this season which just goes to show how good he actually could be. I think he could easily shift half a stone or so and be even more destructive. I think a good end to the season with us and a good start next season at Hull and he'll be under serous consideration for an England spot in 2016.

I must be honest, I loved Taylor at HKR. He was a player I was banging the table for Saints to sign and he still is IMO. He's a quality prop forward. I don't think that changes whether he's at Wigan, Salford or Hull.

| Anyone think Greg Burke would be worth a look at? Currently been shipped out to KR, don't know his services are no longer required over at the JJB Stadium

It's going to be difficult for him at Wigan with SOL, Faz, Bateman and Joel there. I think he was loaned to Hull KR with the intention of getting a full season and then returning to us (same as Jack Hughes at Huddersfield) but he has had a couple of injuries and hasn't really got going.
He has the potential to be a ball playing 13, so he's definitely worth a look. He's 22 now so he needs regular games, and he's probably not going to get that at Wigan unfortunately.

| If we are looking in the lower leagues for front rowers we need to move, just reading the Aussie press and 2 separate NRL clubs have scouts in the UK at the moment looking at front row options.
