Yes hats off to them they did manage to get the correct year. They must have one of those big year planners in the office.

| Just seen the highlights and if Walne gets 10 minutes how does Westwood not get marched with a red. One was clumbsey the other was a deliberate foul.

| Walne's was for persistent offences, we were (quite rightly) on a team warning.

What he said.
Silverwood gave us a team warning then in the next set Walne got penalised for a high shot. It didn’t warrant a sin binning on its own, but he was rightly binned for being so clumsy straight after being put on a team warning. I must admit Westwoods looked a bad one at the game, but Silverwood thought it hit his chest first, I can’t really comment on whether it did or didn’t, if it was direct contact then yes he should have been off. However the match review panel have had a look and deemed that a sin bin was the correct call so I’ve got no arguments whatsoever. I see the ‘all officials and RFL hate Salford’ brigade have been out in force on twitter again. It’s just embarrassing.

How The RFL saw it[Westwood] makes secondary contact with head of opponent however initial contact is with arm/chest of opponent. Player’s feet only leave the ground after contact. Sin Bin Sufficient.'"

| I also think a lot of people need to study the rules more. There was one point in the first half when Wire kicked dead for a 20 meter restart, one of our lads (can’t remember who) picked up the ball and passed it on to someone to take a quick 20m restart. The referee quite rightly pulled it back as you can only take a quick 20m restart if the same player that first gathers ball runs to the 20m line and takes the tap himself, if it is passed to someone else then a quick tap cannot be taken and you have to wait for the referee to give the mark. Everyone around me was going mental when Silverwood stopped us (quite rightly) from taking the quick restart, which made me realise how few people actually knew the ruling.

| Just watched the highlights video and this is my assessment of the tries we conceded.
1. Morley and Hauraki too slow to close down Ratchford. Hauraki could have done more to block the pass to Myler.
2. Warrington player didn't seem to play the ball properly with his foot, allowing a very fast PTB.
3. Debatable if Atkins was offside, level at best. Johnson should have stayed more upright because the bounce did him as he scooped down.
4. No complaints although Westward did run into Hansen but I don't think he would have got across anyway, great pass from Monaghan.

| I thought myself on the restart on Saturday, I never understand why there isn't more urgency shown for this.
The team warning before the Walne binning escaped me, proves that fine young player as he is there is a definite need for his technique to improve.
Sorry but Westwoods tackle wasn't off the body/arm first, the more you look at it it was a cheap deliberate shot. I'd love to know what was being said between Myler and Chase in the aftermath as well.

| It was Griffin to knocked in dead, the ball was quickly thrown to the 20m for the tap but Griffin was still picking himself up in the ingoal area.

Yeah, that's right. If Griffin had ran to the 20 and tapped himself then it would have been play on as it is you can't throw the ball to 20m for a quick tap unless the ref gives you the mark.

| He made a mistake by listening to Chase pestering him for the ball.
Still struggling to see how Westwood's tackle can be deemed sending off sufficient (although I agree that -barely - the initial contact is with Walne's shoulder). If you can get called in for a cannonball tackle how do you rationalise Sin Bin sufficient for taking someone's head off?

Or that the referee in the Ah Van case got it wrong and both should have been a yellows?

Going off the reports, footage, and whatever else The RFL disciplinary panel look at, Westwood escaped the ban because the initial contact was fine. This drastically reduces the offence. I thought it was a red too, but I was 50 metres away, saw the incident at full speed once and had a few pints down me.
