Salford RLFC Folly ARLFC Good john wilky last looked out on the pitch at salford. when the snow lay round about deep and crisp and even brightly played the lads that night though the frost was cruelllll when poor swinton scored a try we had 94urrrrrrrrrr:7891.jpg

I thought Tomkins was very good when he came on, plenty of scooting and yards around dummy half which is something we've been missing this season. Once again Rangi was on a different level, everything we do comes off him and if we're to make the 8 then its imperative he stays fit. Hock and Tasi also ran very hard and made good ground forward.

My only concern us the amount of points we're leaking, we need to tighten it up and quickly.

Someday, somewhere, today’s empires are tomorrow’s ashes.:

I thought our defence was much improved, with very few missed tackles. Where we seem to be a bit lacking is in scrambling defence, particularly when an opposition move goes all wrong and they start throwing the ball about in panic. We seem to panic with them. The first try and the Elliot Kear try were examples of this, particularly the Kear one. Why did Meli come chasing infield after him? It was like an Ealing comedy with an old policeman trying to chase some young kid. And where did the rest of the defence go?

Logan Tomkins was outstanding, and I hope this loan deal is with a view to a permanent move. Lots of pace around dummy half, and he always kept the defence guessing. MoM, though, was probably Rangi. That pass for Meli's try was completely unnecessary and completely brilliant. A real highlight. Tim Smith also had his best game for a while, as did quite a few players (Tony Puletua being another).

Salford Red Devils RLFC. [quote="Gotcha":y7izhg01]Salford won't win Super League in my lifetime. Even saying in jest they would sounds stupid.[/quote:y7izhg01]:

I think Puletua had quietly gone about his business well and for this season alone has come in for some unfair stick at time. I have been happy with the majority of his performances, does the hard yards well and leaves the attention grabbing stuff to the others.

I was really impressed with Junior S'au last night. His attacking style is explosive when he is near the try line. Will only get better as the season progresses and he gains full fitness.

One disappointment again was Tim Smith, I know he is trying but he really needs to cut out the errors and concentrate on his passing skills, he tends to put his teammates under unnecessary pressure with his short passes which are more often than not resulting in a knock on.

Just goes to show that the posters on this thread must have been watching at least 6 different games as the opinions voiced were so contrary to each other. Little wonder that as spectators we make crap coaches. Let Harris get on with the job he is paid for and put our trust in him. There is a long way to go to get the team in order but I for one am happy to let Iestyn get on with it.

One way we could improve immediately - discipline. Too many penalties, costing us too many points again. Not a big issue last night, but going forward this has to improve.

That's a bit strong,Mike.
MK has tweeted that Fages and Sneyd are the future of this club, and Theo will have plenty of game time, which is the way it should be.
As I said previously I was very surprised at the starting 17,because I thought he might replace Smith,or Lee would move to loose forward.
The fact is that he is a crowd favourite and won't be off the scene for long.Long being the operative word because Sean Long will make him a better player.
In the meantime,Harris must come to his own conclusions and keep winning or the doctor will have HIM shuddering and turning pink !

I agree Theo is a great player but the hold he has over some of the posters on here is ridiculous.

For what it's worth I'd rather Theo player every couple of weeks at half back and be allowed to develop rather than being played week in week out as an impact hooker, which IMO will hinder his progress. I'm pretty sure Harris is thinking along the same lines.

This.

I've often felt as though some of our fans slightly overrate him based on the excitement of having a young player with so much obvious potential playing the first team.

I'm an admirer of Theo, and I think his ability is his biggest asset. He's a young player with a lot of skill to soak up from the likes of Chase and Long. He's viewed as the future and it would be stupid to burn him out early. He's had to tough it when he played week in week out in a garbage side. That will have toughened him up mentally. Now we have better structure in place, and quality around him for him to learn we'd be stupid to continually throw him in the deep end. Drip feeding him in is how we should do it, and I'll be surprised if that isn't what will happen.

I understand where some people are coming from who like him, but leaving him out of one game shouldn't be leading to hysterics at this stage.

I'd be concerned if he didn't appear at all, but let's give the new regime a chance before throwing teddies out of cots.
