I apologise on behalf of the massive majority of Cas fans after seeing some of the comments on the other forum as it does not represent us at all. I hope those sad acts on there grow up and stop being pathetic little kids.

To draw comparisons between the signings of Tim smith and rangi chase is unfair. One was done quickly and out if the public glare with a club who is desperate for cash. The other has been a long and protracted courtship which has unsettled both the player and a number of fans; add to that some unnecessary and unsavoury acts such as naming horses, wearing masks and cheering against your own team when said player scores (very disrespectful to those currently pulling on the Salford shirt in my opinion).
I'm not advocating some of the quite ridiculous and ignorant responses by certain fans from Cas, merely pointing out possible reasons for them. As is regularly pointed out Salford have had players tapped up when you were struggling and should understand more than most that its not a nice thing to see/experience so I would have personally displayed a little more graciousness, rather than the general mood of two wrongs making a right.
Personally I'm sad to see rangi go as he has been quite simply breathtaking to watch and I wish him all the best. He is too talented to finish his career without medals in my opinion.
To all Salford fans, if he does actually sign for you; give him your support and he will definitely repay you. Brace yourselves, you're about to witness things you didn't know we're possibly with a rugby ball!

Salford had an average attendance of 5442 during the 2012 SL season with a team that had no money but still played attractive attacking rugby although were never good enough to realistically challenge for any honours.Not hard to see that with a new owner who is prepared to not only invest heavily in new players but also the infrastructures that the club has been missing for many years along with an advertising campaign aimed at re engaging the local communities as well as the Manchester areas,that a large increase in attendances will happen in 2014.
Salford is a sleeping giant of the game and sooner or later all you disbelievers and doubters will be eating large helpings of humble pie.

I don't think you know whether the signing has been long and protracted or not,and the MOM performances since the press and twitter reports have emerged would indicate that the player has not been unsettled.
I formed the opinion the cheering was in reply to the chant of 'We don't want you anymore' after Chase passed forward twice and failed to find touch with a kick in the first half.I thought it was terrific humour.

I think now that it is envy when the Probiz Coliseum becomes Rent-A-Hose and your fleeting money man with promises went to your friendly neighbours.
If you don't like Salford at least have respect for a player who has entertained you since December 2008 and the gentleman who is able,and willing,to pay the required rate for his abilities;as well as keeping him in Super League.
The one or two posters have not changed the fact that Castleford is a rugby league town with excellent supporters.
Those supporters assist the club financially and help them to punch above their weight annually.
Other well-respected players have left Castleford for other clubs,over their history,without the input this forum has endured recently.

I don't often post on here, I usually just read.

However, having seen that link, it's a little embarrassing for any Cas fan to think that's a representation of "us."

I guess forums attract the more "extreme" type of fan to an extent and that can be seen here. I think it's safe to say any ill feeling is a combination of two things. Firstly, four years of constant rumour about your star player leaving is downright annoying, and I think Cas fans have had their lot of it.

Personally, I'll be devastated to see him leave - he's my all time favourite player to watch down at Cas, a genius - but I won't miss the circus that surrounds his future. He's made four "farewell" appearances by my reckoning in the last two years alone. It'll be nice to open the League Express and not have to read about who he's signing for this week.

Secondly, it's clear to see the jealousy involved. I'd be lying if I said that I wouldn't love someone like Koukash coming to Cas and buying a host of top quality players. You'll know as well as us what it's like to watch your top talent use the club as a shop window and move on, and it's a gutting feeling. It's not something you'll have to put up with anymore now though.

I just hope you don't judge all Cas fans as absolutely nuts. I worked at Media City most of the last two years and got to know some decent Salford fans in the area. I've also seen my best friend threatened last year by two crazy Salford fans for celebrating when Jordan Thompson scored the try just before half time. I know however, it's just a small majority of idiots who give clubs a bad name, and it's unfortunately the more vocal ones at games/on forums who are embarrassing. I just look forward to the announcement being made so everyone can just move on from this.

Thanks for that. I think most of us realise that the Ritalin deprived posters on the other forum don't represent the majority of Cas fans, or of RL fans in general. As you say, each club has a few, but I've been pleased (and, I'll admit, surprised) by the way the Salford fans have handled this. I thought the usual suspects would be out gloating on other forums, but maybe the fact that we're acutely aware what it's like to lose your better players (we've walked that path so many times, they've named a stretch after us) has made them think again. I hope it carries on after the announcement too. I'd hate to think we end up like some of the Warrington fans (Warrington "Mr Meltdown" Wolf and BrianBradyHandJob, for example) who insist on making dicks of themselves on other forums.
