The Visa is done! Chase agreed terms a long time ago and Salford have been sorting out visa issues since. Plus like's been said before as he's eligible for British citizenship this year he might not even need a new Visa.

| Quote: Wildcat26 "Yeah and smith had 2 years left with us. He has also stated that he is happy at Wakefield and has settled with the family, which is quite a big thing considering the mental illness that he copes with in Bi-Polar which was the reason he quit playing rugby league over in Aus in the first place.
Then again like you say nothing's impossible. Isn't your so called signing in chase on a 4 or 5 year deal ?'"
There's a big difference though. We don't need to sell Fages or anyone else to pay creditors. Smith was probably genuine in his statement that he was settled and happy. If things go bad financially at a Club the first thing to go are its playing assets. Salford enquired, Wakey saw an opportunity to ease its finance problems, and Smith secures his short-term future for his Family. It's not nice as a fan, and us Salford fans can empathise totally with Wakey fans but your Club has done the obvious thing when faced with a dilemma.
I could see Fages maybe put out on a lengthy loan, but Salford as a Club have invested too much into Fages just to let him go at this stage. Like I said, I'm not privvy to the ins and outs of either Club but, for me at least, it just seems highly unlikely that Fages would be leaving.

Good signing who absolutely destroyed us with his kicking game when we played them at our place earlier this season.

Quote: Bill52 "Oh course, Tim Smith might just be option 2, if there is a problem with the visa for Chase. Just a thought.'"
Their local tag seem to think its a done deal, and at the end of the day if Rangi really thought he had no chance of getting a new visa or cas thought he could then i don't think Cas would be splashing the Cash signing replacements, they must be relying on the transfer fee from Salford as they stated they were spending the full cap next year, if he went to the NRL it would be on a free as he has a clause in his contract, so if you actually weigh everything up it does look like everything has been done and dusted.

| We will be in the envious position (if the Chase Visa is sorted) of having three quality half backs to give us completion, and back up for loss of form, injury, suspension etc. Happy days.

| Good signing for you guys. Salford paid a fee and that's fair play. Smith has settled at Wakey and found his game again. Sure he would have been happy to stay but the club needs to be secure financially.
The attendances have been great for us this year but if it balances the books and allows us to kick on then so be it.
Good luck, I'm sure many teams and opposition fans will watch Salford with interest ext year as you look to be putting a pretty competitive team together next year.

Classy post. Hope you guys can continue to build and maybe find your own Koukash.
It would be great to see the likes of Wigan, Leeds etc getting a proper run for their money.

Agreed. We need the money, Salford paid the fee.
Best of luck to him next year (apart from when he plays against us of course!)

| What a difference in class between Wakefield and Castleford fans, far more dignified and respectful than the muppets weve been use to when discussing Rangi Chase. Never nice to see a club struggle and I hope they come out the other side, they seem to be in safe hands anyway.
This is where Koukash is so important for Super League as a whole and not just Salford. Without him, Wakefield struggle and don't receive a substantial fee to help their finances. Shame there aren't 13 more Marwan's knocking about!

Been really impressed with the Wakey fans reaction to the news on their forum.Obviously they are very disappointed but hardly a bad word said against Salford.
The more guys like Marwan in the game can only be a good thing for all clubs.Wealthy investors are so important to SL as the RFL seem incapable of generating decent revenues for the clubs themselves.
