| Quote: TheButcher "What's the point in blame? The outcome is the same. In this instance no one thing has contributed to Salford's downfall. A number of things over many years has slowly degraded the Club to this point. If some of those things were done differently we may not have been in this situation maybe. My gut feeling, if you look back over the last twenty odd years without personal vendetta, is that a Club which does not find a winning formula on and off the pitch is only going to last so long.
TBH it's pretty amazing we lasted this long.
We've been caught in a downward spiral for many years now. Unsuccessful marketing, mundane on-field fortunes, apathetic support to name a few causing a catch-22 we can't get out of.
A sad day in which blame, argument, and ego should take a step back on these forums for once.'"
Well said.

It is SL and SKY that have caused this to happen.
They would be happy just to see the same top 4 clubs win games week in week out.
I will follow Salford in whatever guise they hopefully reappear in through thick and thin.
Go and support Leeds or Wigan now if you are so obsessed with the SL.

| Michigan Red are you trying to inpersonate a clown?
I don’t agree with Mrs Garrido's politics but she would be failing in here duty not to voice her concern, you keep going on about morons, but you don't mention name's or does the word bottle and no apply?
Maybe John's good friend Steve could help, now there was money wasted! Surely you must agree with that!

| You have my sympathies as a Hull KR & Rugby League fan. If the RFL do not help you (and no one seems to be holding their breath on that) then I think they should open their books for full disclosure on exactly how much they have ploughed into London, Celtic, Bradford et al. This would completely clear the air as far as they go because they are either treating everyone the same or they are not. Words from the RFL no longer suffice as most RL fans no longer trust them after the debacle that was the Stobbart sponsorship and the fact most people within RL knew that Widnes would be coming into SL a good two years before it happened. The situation with Bradford was a joke as any other competition would have thrown them out, no disrespect to their club but again I think most people feel the same way even the Bulls supporters.
This is no way for Mr Wilkinson to relinquish his reign at Salford after putting so much of his own passion & money in. I am surprised that Mr Simms is keeping a low profile through all this as he usually has his say. I hope they keep the faith with quality people like Phil Vievers and Alan Hunte as they will steer you in the right direction should you come through.
All the best and lets hope we see you in SL in 2013.

Don't count on it. Sale look like been relegated to the championship. Really hope Salford sort it out. Really thought you guys getting a new stadium would really move you forward.

I also hope Garrido lives to regret this and the voters vote for anyone else.

the vote was done by a set of Labour ast mayors, but the mayor did not vote, so it was not him if it went one way or the other.
not a good leader, but a coward

The mayor as leader would normally only have the casting vote.

| Councillors on Twitter claim the Mayor didn't have a say. Begging the question: what was the point of having a mayor again?

| A comment on the interview on the BBC did make me wonder if this hasn't all been lip service to suggest that the council were considering the loan.
The Mayor says that the stadium have another tenant lined up and that Salford have not been able to meet the payments for their rental so it begs the question if they secretly think we'll get someone else in who will pay up and possibly get bums on seats.
I have no clue who it is or if I'm right but it did seem like an odd statement to make.
Also everyone keeps forgetting Securitas, I'd like to know what they have thrown into the rind for sponsorship as you keep seeing that they seem to be interested in more so I wonder if there is a chance of them becoming more involved.
A sad result of this is that I doubt even if an 11th hour rescue package was sorted that the players PV had lined up would still be available.

| Quote: fax-boys "Not been on the forums for 12 months now,but the R.F.L. should do the same for you as they did for the Bulls and London. If they dont the only alternative is fold and start again in the championship debt free. With Swinton looking likely to own their own ground a groundshare at Agecroft looks the best bet for both clubs.Promotion and relegation looks to be back on you could be back in S.L. IN 2 years time good luck for the future hope it works out.'"
Let's face it, I think this would be the best option for us right now. It's quite obvious that we have nothing, no money, no stadium, massively depleated squad etc. We should take bankrupcy and start again, debt free from the ground up. Do things the way they should be done and play our way fairly up the leagues (if possible). Look at AFC Wimbledon in football as a perfect example of this. Started from non-league after their old club was shamelessly taken from them. Now they're back in League 2 and just recently came within minutes of taking MK Dons (the club that old Wimbledon FC became) to a replay at their home ground.
We have a hardcore support of somewhere between 3-4k. Starting again is possible with those numbers and who knows, if we make a success of it we might even do some things that Salford as we currently know it could never have done.

Only just learned of this from reading this forum.
Dunno who you are Butcher but thanks for the post - reminded me of -

Really feel for the coaching staff and the players et al. - and their loved ones.
