| I just read there is no smoke without fire but if we are honest if this was the case hull fc will have every half decent player in superleague signed up next season. I dont know why but this season the Hull fans have got abit vocal and think that every player wants to play for them just because there new owner has spat a few lines out about that they will only sign qaulity, do you not realise that hes only saying it to make you happy, the only qaulity player you have signed so far is ellis and your still losing 2 qaulity second rows in tickle and manu.

| i think he will go, this is just the same as the smith situation and look what happend there. he is 28 yrs old and i would not blame him if hull do offer him more money that he will take it.
with the likes of pattern going, smith gone, Holdsworth possibly going, feka going, are wage bill should be very small indeed. hopefully we will blood the under 20s more with a few additions which will benefit the team. shame we could not have had another year with pattern, smith, holdsworth, in the hope of a better pack we would have a very good team.
but players come and go.
i think dean long is the most important person we need to keep on are books who is becoming a quality coach.

I usually take what Hull fans say about signings with a pinch of salt. They're the worst set of fans on these boards in terms of rumours and come up with hundreds and hundreds of pages of them year after year. Only Wigan seem to really come close with the sheer amount of tiresome talk about who they might be bringing in.
Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me now if Holdsworth is going. Seems to be too much talk about it for there to be nothing in it.

| Quote: middleman "I believe Hull tabled a bid for Holdsworth a couple of years ago which prompted Salford to offer him an improved 3 year deal , then Patten signed and the club signed some more ' higher profile players ' ( for Salford ).
however the last two seasons have been the most bizzare i've ever experienced , and after these Holdsworth wanting out wouldn't be a huge surprise to me anyway.
given the depth of the amateur game in the East Riding i've always wondered why the Hull teams always seem to be looking outwards or overseas for half back talent?
It's also perverse that it's Bradford in Admin. but it is Salford who seem to be doing it's best to balance the books who are under constant rumour of losing it's players.
If he does go then thats us pretty much supplying half of SL with half backs in the past few years . and I think that says as much about the lack of talent in the other teams as much as it highlights our inability to retain players.
There's fat lady in the corner and she's clearing her throat, but she's not singing yet ..'"

An Australian who was languishing in the depths of the NSW Cup competition, unable to get a game for the Canterbury first team.
We took a chance on him, he turned out to be good and the vultures came circling. Unfortunately that's sport for you.

Big deal i made a typo. Another one who thinks that they are a member of the spelling police. I Guess i will see the name H-o-l-d-s-w-o-r-t-h that much next season, i am sure i will be able to spell his name correctly in no time.

Granted, it has some pretty rank areas but even these have improved in recent years.
Time to get rid of the stereotype me thinks.'"
I thought this was a rugby site, not lets take childish snipes at a city. (not aimed at you) Everywhere has it good and bad places,Hull is no different from everywhere else. How people can call everybody bad names if they live in a certain place beats me.We are all different surely?
I don`t come from Hull so I have no reason to defend it,other than to say lets not tar everybody with the same brush eh?
I am sure any player who comes to Hull could move to Swanland if he finds Preston Road too much for him.

I agree. A good sensible post. (Cue an "it's only banter" comment).
As for Holdsworth, the bloke is excellent. A thoroughly professional, fit and highly skilled player. In his first year with us I remember commenting that I couldn't think of a better NSW player. Even now he ranks not too far behind Todd Carney IMO.
I'd be very sorry to see him go.

| First it was Patten, then Smith, then Gleeson, now Holdsworth possibly Broughton, and now Moon flirting for a move. This tells me a sinking ship is being deserted. A decent three quarter line can't get out the door quick enough. If these decent departures aren't replaced with quality for next season the wooden spoon will be ours again especially with this pitiful pack.
