Quote: lancetodd "Players leave for three reasons, they don't like where they are,the club don't want then any more,or more money.
Matty Smith left because he thinks Wigan offer more chance of winning things, and money. If Daniel Holdsworth leaves
and I think he will,he will go for the same reasons, and possibly Gleeson went for the same reasons also.If a club want's
to get rid of a player they will even If that player want's to stay,so we cannot talk about loyalty there Is none
Its there living,so good luck to them, the vast majority on here would do the same.'"
Players can retire, some do, some should but wont.
Players can be dismissed for gross misconduct, some are, some get away with it.
Players can earn more outside the game and just pack it in.
The contract system has resulted in many clubs at certain times losing players to other clubs despite offering the players good money(what the club can afford, more in some cases)
It should also mean that any club who wants a player still in contract, should negotiate and pay a fee, which Wigan have done for Matty Smith, good luck to him and the club for getting some money that wasn't expected.
In Sean Gleesons case he is out of contract at the season end, I am unsure if the club have made him an offer or not but again good luck to him at HKR.
In Daniel Holdsworth's case when he was signed for us many people said Daniel Who? and nit picked about his game, I was one who thought that he could be very good and I think that he is, but he has another 12 months left on his contract and if he honour's it that's not loyalty, it's called honouring a contract which he would expect the club to do.
I personally cannot believe that Daniel would want to be involved with a person who as a coach stifled his game to the point where he lost all his form and almost saw the club off, despite any extra cash.
