| Quote: DogPie "I'm still not understanding how you guys aren't getting it. People bang on about those who defend Parish, yet constantly defend those who are rightly to blame or all this. Firstly, Parish always said he wanted to go back to the NRL. That he has done. Now, the recruitment effort by the club was appauling. Parish was only on the list because the club messed up recruiting the people they actually wanted in the first place. They also wanted a quick appointment to get somebody in before the end of the season which have whoever would take the job very little time to look into the club fully. So he had to trust what he was told. This being that he would be given full charge to build a team. He was also told about our 'amazing' youth set up. So Parish comes over and hits a brick wall with everything he tries to do. Each time he makes a request he's knocked back. Not for financial reasons, but because they want to control everything. If they never intended to allow him this freedom, they should never have told him he could. He was hugely frustrated and each time he protested he got the cold shoulder treatment. That is impossible to work with. The youth setup was also nothing like he was lead to believe. So, let's just say he has the opportunity to go and work in a professional organisation in the NRL rather than the amateur set up at Salford, then who can blame him. The amateurism of the club didn't even tie him down to a contract which says everything about how they do things. I'm no big lover of Parish, but I just wish people would open their eyes and see things for real. Take the blinkers off.'"
Agree with all this.

| Good Luck Matt Parish.you was only with us for a short time, but you certainly shook the trees in that time.
And look what fell out, since your departure we find certain players,on twitter.Telling us they are glad you have gone,
but we all no who they are the ones your were trying to flirt. We know Vievers is now in charge<Good Luck to him>. And your good friend Steve telling any one who will listen, that we have moved on and we are a close knit club, but I don't think any ones listens to him except certain board members and a few supporters.Any way good luck at Manley, and in any future coaching roles, as I have said your were only with us for a short time. But It the end It boils down to the
fact, that you came half way round the world to tell us,what we already new.

| Quote: Diavolo Rosso "Well yes, because you said that the most desirable outcome is for those "systems" to pull together. This is only the most desirable when we have the best "systems" (within our constraints) available to us, which currently we don't.'"
Not me. I could've made it clearer, but I was simply paraphrasing the outgoing coach. I don't know the first thing about the club's systems or the success therein, but I don't think his wish to pull everyone together was succesful due to his percieved reluctance to compromise (rightly or wrongly).
Quote: Diavolo Rosso "There is endless evidence of the failings of the way we are currently run both on and off the field. If you can't see that then you are a simpleton, if you can stop see it then stop being an awkward lover.'"
I get tired of repeating this, but it entirely depends on how you measure success and failure.
If I were a Wigan fan I'd be appauled at the decline of the once great club.
If I were a Swinton fan (indeed, any non-SL fan) I'd be over the moon to be in our position.
We all want to see the club flourish and improve in every aspect and I remain to be conviced that anyone at the club, players and admin alike, doesn't want the same.
Quote: Diavolo Rosso "No, the duty of fans is to do the best they can to ensure that whatever club they support is run as well as it can be in an effort to ensure success where possible, but most importantly the continued existence of the club for future generations. By not challenging the current situation you're failing in your duty.'"
How exactly is anyone here challenging anything? Do you seriously regard this message board as a platform for anything credible? Did you see Wardleyred's poll??

| I don`t care one iota about Simms and Tarry, what i do care about is the club i`ve supported for fifty years or so,i care that my sons, grandchildren have a Salford to support in the years to come. Please could somebody tell me what exactly these two people bring to the table? In my humble opinion this club is in turmoil, not because of the coach, players or supporters, its the leadership above, the longer the silence the more i get concerned that another bombshell is just around the corner.Yes i`ll` be there next year but i`m not getting the buzz i normally get for the start of the season, its the thought that i`m helping to pay these peoples wages thats winding me up.Sorry about this Rant over.

It must be a different one OQR as the one I remember was assistant at the second best side on earth the NSW Blues, and has just got a job at the current greatest club side on earth.
I can't think for a second why he would jump ship from the machine that is Salford.

| Tut Tut Tut...Just reading the MP article in a previous post regarding his Manly appointment, to which it explains that the manly players are looking forward and can't wait to be working with Parish, and yet the other side of the spectrum we have Salford players openly disrespecting MP on twitter regarding his training sessions. IMO respect is earned and the salford players obviously didnt respect the guy because he was outspoken and flogged them to death. So why is it, we have the best rugby league club team on the planet, respecting MP, and one of the worst in superleague openly don't. MP was always battling an up hill task after his comments towards the end of last season and everyone at the club turned on him, except the fans hence the fallouts with SS and the snubbing from JW, So with Matt not getting the backing and respect he deserved, who can blame him for walking away and taking up the role with Manly, what ever way you look at it Matt could'nt win. If he stayed he would have to put up with the disrespect of the players, and a faithless attitude from the board, and now he's gone, he's portrayed as the scapegoat to the blinkered lot.
It also sends a strong message out to us and the rugby league world that a second in command nrl post is more appealing than the salford head coach job at the moment. Although i wish PV all the best, i don't think he's the guy to take us to a top eight finish, we'll be let down as usual....

Well i am a Swinton fan and i'll tell you now in now way would i wish to be in Salfords position, if by that you are referring to being a Super League franchise, after all that is all that is the differamce between both clubs now sadly.
At least each season we are able to play in a competition where if you do well you are rewarded and if you fail you still need to fight at the end of each season to keep your position.
in Salfords case the latter doesn't apply, what does is satisfying a criteria which ticks boxes and subsequently for a few seasons now once you have lost a few games early on your seasons are all but over. This is by no way means a dig at Salford but at the way RL has sold it's soul to sky money.
I'm more than happy to be the new boys in the Championship.!!!

I remember Salford players saying how much they were looking forward to playing under Matt when he was on his way and how they were enjoying it while he was still here. Not sure what that proves
I also remember rumours about how *some* Salford players didn't respect Shaun Mcrae's coaching abilities. Don't remember those comments from South Sydney when they were getting the wooden spoon every year under Mcrae. Not sure what that proves either

So who got relegated from the division you've just been promoted from and have been playing in each season for the last few years?

I see Jamie Lyon is really happy to be working with Parish. But then again compared to the calibre of player at Salford who didn't like Parish he really is a poor judge, you know all those test and origin appearance and the Grand Final wins in both codes. Actually ignore everything I say, Jamie Lyon knows nothing about good coaching or coaches, he's never seen Simms at work.

| Does actually make you think more and more that we've lost a real shot at having a quality coach, Veivers may yet be that and I hope he is but doubt he has the potential to move the squad forward like Parish would have done.

| Taken from Gruffy's link above
"We’re looking forward to having Matt on board,” Lyon said.
“He comes with a big wrap, and a lot of people have a high opinion of him, so I’m looking forward to working with Matt.”
So Lyon has never worked with Parish but has heard he is a good coach. What does that prove? what do you expect Lyon to say "oh yeah I heard he's rubbish"? I'm sure if you dug out quotes from Salford players prior to his arrival they would have said similar things.
None of this proves whether he is a good coach or not, it's just players saying what players say when a new coach is coming in. I'm not saying Parish is a bad coach, I've absolutely no idea as we didn't see enough of him at Salford. I would have thought that Manly could have their choice of assistants so it bodes well for him that they chose Parish. But players saying they are looking forward to working with him proves absolutely nowt
