How often do you post something that doesn't mention his name? It seems there's nothing wrong with the club that can't be solved by sacking him, so tell us what you know. What is his role? How is he performing it badly? How do other clubs deal with what he deals with? You've obviously researched it thoroughly, so tell us your findings so we can form our own opinions.'"
Players contracts, at other clubs It is done by the Chief Executive,Simms is said to act between the board and coaches.Surely the coach can speak for him self,That,s why we do not need him,I did not start this thread but just like

Are you sure player contracts are negotiated by the Chief Executive at other clubs or are you just guessing? Do you have proof that they are? If so, what has Paul Cullen been doing at Widnes, or Phil Lowe at Hull KR (or, I guess, Shaun McRae at Hull now)? Do ‘hands on’ chairmen like Ian Lenagan and Eamonn McManus not get involved at Wigan and Saints? I don’t know the answer, and, I suspect, you don’t either. Were contracts negotiated by Dave Tarry before Steve Simms came along? Given that Dave Tarry seems to be another name on your personal club staff vendetta list, who would you have negotiate contracts if Simms left?
And then we have people claiming to have ‘inside knowledge’ and to know what the players think of him. It’s worth noting that the people with this ‘inside knowledge’ never give any detail of what that knowledge is, and if they really did have ‘inside knowledge’, we’d have had Ian Milward coaching the likes of Kevin Sinfield, Ade Gardner, Stuart Reardon, etc. etc. etc. last season. As for the player’s opinions of him, it’s worth noting that the players are always right. Until they start criticising someone members of this board have a man crush on (like they appear to have been doing with Matt Parrish on Twitter). Then they become wrong. You hear what you want to hear.
What I have heard about Steve Simms is that he was brought in to sort out player contracts because they were, frankly, a mess. He was also brought in to do the role a ‘hands on’ chairman would do if our chairman had the time to devote to it. In that respect, do you have evidence that he’s done a bad job? We can all point to the quality of signings the club has made – focussing only on the flops, of course, never on the successes – but how much are the club constrained by the obvious lack of funds? I’m pretty sure that if we had the same amount of money to throw around as Wigan or Warrington, we’d be in a similar position to them. But we haven’t and so aren’t. I don’t see how that is Steve Simms’ fault. This is where the big question comes in: what is his role and how is he performing it badly? Until you provide a clear answer to that (with documentary evidence, not just your assumptions), I'm afraid everything you post just comes across as a tantrum.
Am I for him? I don’t know. I don’t have any evidence. My feeling is that, given the amount of money the club has, we punch well above our weight in the transfer market.
Things aren’t always so black and white, Lance.

| The only issue I have with SS is, as I see it, the apparent non - clarification of his actual jobe role.
As I have been told on many occassions, Simms' role is to be the bridge between the players and the board. He's their to sort contracts, target players, use his contacts in Oz to see who's avilable and who we can afford. Look after players when issues arise etc. Basically do the admin role from a football side of things. This role, in my opinion, is an important role at a sports club and he clearly takes the weight and work load away from the Chariman who is entitled to take a step back after so many years. Let me just reiterate as well before people jump down my throat - This is my opinion and view on the role he does, I have no inside info whatsoever.
Where i think the waters get muddy is the fact that SS at every single game I've been to home & away, is in the changing room with the players & coach before at half time and after the match. If he was to completely disassociate himself from the playing side of things I don't think he would take half as much stick as he does. At present, to me, he seems very much part of the playing/coaching side - why else would he need to walk across the Willwos pitch at half time and into the changing rooms with each & every single coach we've had in the last 10 years?
Now if this is a support role that each coach has felt they needed and they want SS with them to do then thats absolutely fine but it would nice for his role to be clarified in respect of this. It would also be refreshing to hear a coach we've had since SS has been at the club to come out and say what a major help he's been and that without him there his role would have been much harder to perform. Unfortunately I have only ever heard derogatory thing's from ex players & coaches when discussing him. (to be fair most of this has been second hand so how true it is exactly I don't know but you get my point)
Maybe if his role with regards to all the above can be clarified once and for all then it will stop the disillusioned fans from jumping on his back whenever a sneaky fart drifts over Salford. I've no axe to grind at all with him, just my opinion on things.

Thats the money ball / question if he is admin he should be with Dave Tarry sat in the stands sipping Gin NOT sat with the coaching team barking instructions to the team by doing this people see him as part of our coaching team and but dodging bullets when the coaching team gets sacked / resigns.

From the thread about Tarry/Simms that was on here the other daySteve Simms is the club's Football Director as such he controls all player dealings from working with the coaches on possible signings to organising training facilities, travel etc.
Steve reports directly to the board of directors and ultimately carries the can for all playing matters including youth development etc.[/i

| As for Mr Simms in the dressing room,If the coach invites him in,so be It.But we do no that Matt Parish did not
want him in,and not only him,and they did not like it.I don't think any body would be in the Warrington dressing room
with out the consent of Mr Smith,do you.I mean what does the Chairman say when he goes in, when the coach could be
giving someone a rollicking.I dread to think what Alec Murphy would have done

what do you think the chairman says when he goes in, it is bleeding obvious he tells them about the dream and the new iconic ground at Barton.

| Steve Simms is ace, he's married to a Leyther.
Steve is NOT the reason you lose more games than you win, and 'have to' offload your TOP players to bigger clubs.
