Have you gone back 14/15 years, and mistaken Williams for Sini?

| That's going to upset a few on here sini getting some bad press
Sini wasn't prolific but he was all effort and heart that's why he was loved so much on the terrace
Williams is a different kind of winger, really if you were to compare him to somebody from that time Darren Rodgers would be your man...

| I wasn't actually comparing the two, but questioning how someone could criticise Williams. Whilst we're on the subject Williams is probably the first tough tackling winger we've had since Sini!
Williams does seem to link well with Gleeson, and they are one of our few plus points from last season. I really hope Moon can link with Broughton to a similar standard, if Moon plays in the centres.
Ps. As much as we all love Sini, it was for his heroic acts of strength and power. Not because he was the quickest winger to ever grace the Willows turf, rip. Sini was the only Salford player I saw run through Barrie McDermott.

| I have a feeling Moon will be playing in the forwards mainly, especially since we are a bit short there atm. I'd like to see him at centre but he likes to see himself as a stand-off. Proper utility player by the sounds of it which can't be a bad thing in a side like ours.

| I wouldn't be shocked to see Moon at thirteen either, but with patten performing a similar role in attack, to that of an old fashioned LF, it could well be a case of too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
It's MPs choice, obviously, but Broughton meeds to be given a good centre inside him. Always thought he worked well with Talau. When Talau was fit and could be bothered

Ha Ha What world are you living in mate. Lee jewitt wouldnt get in any other super league starting 17 hes s4ite .Im sick of the deluded people on this site who are obviously not rugby league minded or are very easily pleased , and to reply regarding williams, i think hes an average winger.Did you see the catalans game in the first 5 mins when williams was clear.A class winger would of finished that chance.Weve been used to having bad wingers in recent years we finally have two good wingers at last. But to rate him in the fielding/richards/offiah mode they are not in the same league..

So, you've been a forum member for less than 2 months and you are already sick of the deluded people on here ?
You are obviously a highly intelligent, very patient and tolerant person. I look forward to many more pearls of wisdom from you in the near future.
Please don't disappoint.

Wakey, Cas, Crusaders and Quins would all have taken Jewitt last season.
As for Williams most of his tries for the Reds required finishing off, and he did the job well on something like 8/9 times. Rather than basing your opinion on what he got wrong, what about the several try saving tackles he put in during the second half against Cats. I occasionally wear red tinted glasses, but I would never state Broughton is the finished article. Danny Williams does the little things much much better, also he reads the game far better. We are Salford and need players that can hold their own defensively.
Ps. Of all the players you could have mentioned, why Offiah? Truly one of the laziest uncoordinated rugby players that has ever worn the GB shirt. I'll never forget the 1st time I saw him play live, couldn't even pick the ball up off the ground. Class with the ball, no better than Ste Tyrer in defence.

You must be winding me up.Williams in my opinion is an average super league winger.Theres better wingers about.Yeah he puts in some good performances but that doesnt make him a GREAT.Im happy with our wingmen but come on Offiah was a special finisher , the best the game as ever seen.
You cant even begin to mention offiah and williams in the same breath.Offiahs defence did improve as his career evolved but widnes/wigan had great backs around him in them days, hes scored 448 tries in his career not bad for a lazy uncoordinated GREAT.
Take them rose tinted specs off.

Think your being a tad harsh on Williams my self, he was a breath of fresh air when he came to us last season and some of his try's did take some quality finishing. I also agree from what i have seen he is slightly better than Broughton defensively and certainly better under the high ball, I honestly feel if the two of them were in a top squad in super league they would be in the England squad take Gardner, Riley, Atkins, Leroy cudjoe for example all of them are w@nked over just because they play for top clubs, im sorry none of the above are better thank Broughton or Williams.

I'm going to leave the 'then and now' alone, because I shouldn't have started it and it's not really fair on the past players.
As for Williams, you're entitled to your opinions, but he doesn't panic in defence, which allows him to make the right decisions. OTRD is right about certain players getting into the England squad because of who they play for. There's no way Cudjoe offers as much in attack as Broughton and he has many of the same flaws to his game. Makinson looks a good prospect for Stains & Briscoe is quick/strong, but Ryan Hall is nothing more than solid. Whilst Charnley looks more like a centre.
I just hope someone at the club has the sense to get hunte coaching our 3/4 line and FB. Our first choice backs could be formidable next season, if they stay fit and get some quality coaching. After I've said all this, Williams will probably regress next season, in a similar manner to what Gibson did this season. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong.

| Im not being hard on williams im happy with our wingers but hes not as GREAT as your all making him out to be. If he was a class act other top teams would be knocking on the door just like Myler and Ratchford.and i cant agree with the fact you rate him better than Atkins and cudjoe. Cudjoe has set up some quality assists flipping balls out of the tackles and creating overlaps last season, we never see williams and broughton offloading out of the tackle in fact its very rare to see salford at all having a 2nd phase of play.and by the way josh charnley is an out and out winger he aint got the tactical nouse for a centre his hands arent good enough for a centre
