middleman hickey has only played 7 games to adamsons 23, hickey is a prop adamson is a second row, u cant compare stats but i agree with parish adamson is an immense defender but offers very little going forward, we need second rows that make breaks and good yards, adamson is poor in attack and to be honest i wouldnt know where to position him in a team, if we never attacked and always defended he'd be number 1 on the team sheet but im afraid he's 1st division quality at best !!!

You are Neil Barker! Facto. Why you feel the need to go spouting unconfirmed rumours on here Mr Barker given your source (we both know) is a little cowardly don't you think! I'm not saying yor wrong however if/when this turns out to be true I'll be happy for Mr Adamson. All that hard work at a club that hasn't coached him properly. He's a hard working raw talent and he will do well at Wakefield.

He's been a good player in a rubbish team that has DEFENDED more than Gone forward. Fact. With that said he's done his best in a team that hasn't had many attacking options. Plus he's not been coached properly. He's a player with genuine raw talent and would have excelled anywhere else given a decent coach. He's too tough a defender and hard worker for 1st division.

Stats and damn lies. Hickey is far better than his stats would have it. (Not that I believe a deal has been done)

Sorry, Hickey aside from being matey with his ex Bulldog pals Patten & Holdsworth is an embrarrassment and not fit to clean Adamson's boots .
All Adamson needs is to be taught better angles to run ( ie coaching ) , he has a great hand-off and good speed for a backrower.
he is labelled a defender because since his whole career at Salford has been defending in a poor side

Bang on mate. Couldnt echo your point any better. Mr Barker or Mr Barkers associate as he may be is speculating on rumour. Hickey is an unfit NL1 prop at best. As you put it , unfit to clean Lukes boots. If that's the way Salford go it will confirm there barking mad. Adamson has a great hand off. Good pace. Hardest worker. Our top tackler every year. And hasn't been coached in his attack properly since Karl Harrison.

On MP not favouring Adamson. This seems to be a reoccurring pattern. Every time a new coach comes in Lukes dropped. McRae - Veivers etc. Then when they realise ihs defence is required in a team that spends allot of time defending he's Picked again. Now if MP has acted in the same mannor then he will see how important Adamson when he's seen him a bit more. Then I hope he can man manage him into a dynamic attacker as well as a dynamic defender. A big loss if he were to go.

I've defended Adamson on the forum before and I haven't seen anything since to convince me that he isn't worth sticking with.

I'd love to know why defence is such a dirty word these days. We've already got a full back who can't defend and two halves who aren't the best defensively either. Come to think of it, we also have defensive weaknesses in the forwards!!!

As a Club we continually seem to let our top defenders go and replace them with 'ball players.' Is it any wonder we give so many Teams early leads in games and concede 50+ points so often.

It's Defence that creates apprehension in visiting Teams, no-one's ever been been frightened of a game of 'tick and pass'. If we want to create a fortress at Barton we are going to have to toughen up.

Adamson makes 50+ tackles again because the team around him arnt willing to bend their back as they know that adamson will get the attacker so they dont have too, hopefully with MP new outlook and training methods other players will be making the tackles and sharing the workload

Much the same with Alker when he was here, both go from tackle to tackle joining as 2nd man in completing it.
In attack the ball dies with him whether its the 1st tackle or the 5th tackle, you need more at superleague level in both departments.

Our problem all season has been getting out of our 20m, teams kick deep and try and pin us in, as our forwards havnt been big enough / clever enough to make the meters to put us in an attacking position we "see saw" with defensive sets / kicks until we get a penality and are able to clear our lines and attack.

Hickey is a big unit and would make good yards when trying to get out of our 20, he might be unfit but he didnt have a preseason and has got better the more he has played with Wakey this season, i think with a full preseason with Matt he will be a monster come february

He is big mates with Holdsworth and Patten so im sure they will get into his ear and convince him its a good move.

lets hope it comes of as we need some big forwards to come in and take us to the next level

As a wakey fan I am sorry to see Ben go. Can play some great rugby, good with his hands and can hit them like a brick wall on his day. Never really got the right chance with us as he made way for Hickey. Some good coaching and a bit of bulk and he will prove good.

Stuart Dickens who was mentioned earlier in the thread did well for you but fell out with Harrison when he made him play with the Flu, obviously he didnt play too good and never got another look in due to the argument.

You want Hickey, you'll have to buy him out of his contract
