3596.jpg this will not be the end, or even the beginning of the end.
It is merely the end of the beginning

So would he have no idea it was coming if Nero turned on him after he had ran 10 meters at him and Nero thought f*** this I'm not having any of that? C'mon, nobodys defending a cheap shot, although if you really want to be ana-critical (sp?) it could happen after every soft collision. It was daft from Godwin, yes it could have caused serious harm but FFS it aint tiddlywinks! I've watched worse for years, Mason and Fielden spring especially to mind! If someone charged at one of my mates like that I'd hope I'd go to his rescue too!

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book :Others/NA.JPG |

I agree with that.
Just seen it on TV for the first time and, when Godwin was sent off, Alibert said it was for punching and he seemed to reply "it wasn't a punch".

| I seem to remember Leon Pryce breaking someone's jaw a few years back (possibly a Leeds player?) with an off the ball swinging arm from behind - wonder what his sentence was for a much worse offence.

| I'd take my hat off to him, all game we got bullied up and down the field, and that player just got what he needed.
if you ask me Godwin did the right thing maybe not from behind, that was a bit cheap but at least somebody had the balls to hurt some one, would of expected it out of our forwards, though there all a bunch of over-rated soft A*se's

I'll say it again, HE BARELY MADE CONTACT, it was an open handed tap/touch from behind. Whether he was going to punch and realised last minute I don't know but if you re-watch it in slow mo he comes from behind, pushes him forward with his chest, then swings a open hand at his face barely touching!
GET A GRIP !

Since when has a one handed ball carry been a crime? The fact that none of your players managed to secure possesion of the ball from Clinton's long distance one handed carry, well that was criminal!
Your have have made some decent signing. Your game plan left a bit to be desired.

Where do I state that it's a crime? All I'm saying is If I'm a player and I see someone carrying the ball like that everytime they have the ball, I think they're having a laugh at my expense and I want to hit them hard in the tackle to make sure they don't carry it like that again. You're right though, it was criminal that we let him do that and it's a shame none of our players did the same, except to resort to a cheap shot from behind...

| At least he's only been charged with a Grade B offence - so 1 or 2 match ban is the max

It's Salford. They could easily make a stand and ban him for ages. And Iain, I remember the Leon Pryce one as well, think it was in a Challenge Cup tie and he didn't even get sent off from what my foggy memory is telling me.

| Frustration and temper, In the cold light of day he wouldnt of done that but we've all ballsed up at some point. He'll feel gutted by his actions but he's not that sort of player. 1 game ban and a fine.
It was a cheap shot but I dont think he saw it that way, he just went to smack him out of frustration..Chin up Wagga

| I have to say after seeing the game on the telly last night it wasn't as bad as it seems. he opened his hand and didn't go in with a fist. He also never made contact at all with his hand or arm with Schifofske's face or even head. It was very much a large upper body barge into him.
It was still a very silly thing to do though as we need our best players on the pitch especially with the pack already being so lightweight.

I watched the game again last night. Ok the red mist had decended, and Godwin was backing up a team mate at the end of a torrid 80 mins but most self respecting hookers would have run another couple of steps and challanged Schifcofske face on. Then he would only have been looking at a yellow.
While Alkers is giving Godwin the high five, Matty Smith is looking at Godwin as if he is something nasty that he has just stepped in
On a lighter note, this could the stand out action scene from Micky Rourke movie, though I not sure that the hollywood interpretation will do Godwin or Salford any favours.

| After the game I spoke to a steward/drunk Welsh man who was in the tunel, said Godwin waited for 3 or 4 mins for Crusaders to come off the field and had another go! Did someone tell him his actions were cowardly, so he took on all 13 head on to prove them wrong?
