| Well I'm glad of the current response on this and the other thread. Hopefully a few more decent shedites will be as equally as enthused at the prospect of a move in order to reignite the enjoyment of the days of old.
If so, I'll put the word out as a seperate thread prior to the next home game.
Ha, do you remember the days when we'd be 20-30 points behind yet going absolutely barmy in the shed much to the complete bamboozlement of the opposition fans... They clearly thought we were on something...

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book :Others/NA.JPG |

| I really, really hopw this does take off. I might even consider returning to the Shed if it does. A move back to the good (sic) old days where the team were just as bad, if not worse, but we as fans were a damned sight better. The days that saw the birth of "Alan Hunte is a rugby genius" and other classics such as "We're 5hlt but we're beating you"?!
I got hooked on RL because of the experience, the enjoyment, the passion, ..... certainly NOT the quality! I'm not old enough to have seen anything better than defeating Wigan's 'inbeatables' in the cup, top half SL finish under Andy Greg, CC semi final against Sheffield, NL1 and NR Cup success and playoffs under Rhino.
I could've taken mates and family members to any game during that time and, althought we'd invariably get beaten, they'e enjoy the experience. Several of my mates and family are now big die-hards than me, all because I dragged them down to a game and they got hooked - again, on the experience, NOT the quality of the rugby. There's no way I could do that anymore.
I know we have lots of fans who only do home games, quite understandably but, at the moment, I'm seriously considering going to away matches because I'm sick to the back teeth of the 'atmosphere' at the Willows.

It really is a shame that we have to consider such a move. It'd be a fair point to suggest that we stand our ground. The problem is, the club aren't going to get rid of this ever growing section of the shed. I doubt very much they can afford to. So with that in mind, standing our ground will only serve to make us all more miserable. A shift down the shed appears to be the only possible way of reigniting that passion we were famous for and loved.
I for one can't stand the idea that these morons are forcing me away from my usual standing point but that annoyance comes no where near to my frustration of not enjoying the shed anymore... No matter what the scoreline.

Yeah I remember them days. It was only a few years ago tbh. What I dont understand is why they act like muppets because I dont mind the occasional beer at the match but never act like they do, I dont get why pay 17 quid when they could do all this in a dodgy holts pub. Does anyone think its since the beer stand has been put up?
Oh and I'm in, need to spread the word and get there abit earlier than usual though

Exactly my thinking on all points. I'll continue to see if this idea has consensus support and then spread the word based on that.

| The club can obviously help in this too, remember in the buffer days when they used to randomly pump out the viking tune, or when we'd play saints n they'd play brookside theme tune or "calm down". Little things that used to get it started. its a fine line tho, dont want any kind of drum coming in no way!!

Good john wilky last looked out
on the pitch at salford.
when the snow lay round about
deep and crisp and even
brightly played the lads that night
though the frost was cruelllll
when poor swinton scored a try

| I've spent recent years watching down the club end due to lack of atmosphere in the shed, yes a like a whinge as you probably all know, but even I'm getting bored of it now! Everyone on here has one thing in common we all love Salford RLFC. So lets stop fighting against each other and against the club, its times like these where everyone needs to pull together and show the club, the players and the rest of super league that we will support OUR club no matter what. Lets turn up on a Friday night and shout the lads on until we're blue in the face and enjoy a drink in the willows after the game win, lose or draw. Lets get the shed back to what it used to be where other teams used to hate playing in front of us even though we were never that good we always sang out hearts out for the lads and that alone used to intimidate away teams. Lets get that back!
I will be there at Leeds along with the usual 150 or so of us and I will be getting behind them every step of the way. I'm also urging everyone to turn up for the next home game against Bradford, just look what's happened to them in recent years. Their fans have been getting on the Bradford players backs so if that continues and we get behind our lot we could just sneak a win. I'm by no means excusing that pile of poop we seen on Friday, but I just think its about time we put it behind us now. I understand why people have given up and I understand why some people don't even want to come anymore because I too have felt like that a couple of times in the last 2 years. Its now up to the players, coaching staff, the club as a whole and the fans to start getting these people back through the turn styles and back on our side. No matter what anyone says Salford is still inside them all somewhere and we just need a couple of good results to draw it back out. A couple of these threads have been cracking reads and show the passion we as fans have for our club.
Anyway that's me done I'm sure you'll be please to know

| Can i just say, can we please consider others "further down the shed" who have stood in the same place for 20/30/40 years who may feel the same as we currently do if us noisy louts move around them/in their places!

They'll probably just give us the silent treatment... well that is what they are good at

Thank you, Malc: |

| I thought The Shed started to go downhill from about about the second year of our return to SL - circa 1998. In the stand we used to have some amusing fans who would make us laugh when we were playing poorly by coming up with some smart comment, we would get excited by scoring a try even if we were getting hammered and it was a friendly place to be. Maybe I am being a tad misty-eyed but I preferred the atmosphere and feel of the place when we were in the lower leagues than what it has been like since c1998.
EDIT
I actually feel sorry for the Salford fans who didn't watch us from The Shed in the late 80s and 90's. The Shed was a great place to be. I have been lucky enough to be some great stadiums and watch some big events in football, RL, cricket and tennis. Nothing compares IMO to many of the occasions I had in The Shed at that time, even when we got beat. Great days

Noisy, yes, louts, no. Passionate, yes, offensive, no. I'm sure they'll enjoy our company and appreciate that we are different from the aformentioned moronic, simpleton, borderline racist, nouveaux hooligans currently dominating the left side.
Or, we could always stay where we are and continue to endure miserable Friday nights at Salford... We certainly can't move them and direct action would result in violence which I'm pretty adament none of us want.

They probably have been in a Holt's pub, on the Diamond Lager, which might be precisely why they do act this way.
