Beat me to it, I thought Dave Highton was OK for us.

Totally disagree with that. I thought he was quality. Faster around the ruck then Alker and with better distribution.
In NL1 in 2003 i always thought we looked better when he came of the bench and Alker moved to 2nd row.

| The reason i put cashmere in the team of the decade was he is heads and shoulders (apart from rucho and korki) above anything ive seen in a salford shirt, he has taken the pack to another level imo and hopefully other members of that pack who blow hot and cold through every season they have wore the red shirt will finally put there yo-yo form to bed

No. Borgese was signed principally as a Stand-off Half , not a hooker , but was somewhat eclipsed by the emergence of Myler/Ratchford + Paul. and the ever presence of Alker. Borgese was a gamble " apparently the you-tube video was good
David Highton, should have been a class act had he not p1ssed his career up the wall with drugs ..

Rutgerson yes - absolutely agree - gutted when he hung up his boots - but Korki????
Lots of buff & bluster, but IMHO one who flattered to decieve - dropped the ball far too much and though he "looked" impressive how many tackles did he actually break and how many yards actually made?

Didn't we sign Highton after his drugs ban? IIRC he left us to sign for Quins, spent a season there and then quit the game to become a plumber. From what i heard he got a job with a local council (might of been Warrington), where he was earning a hell of a lot more then playing rugby.

You're correct Salford signed him after being sacked by Warrington in 2001 for use of banned steriods
He repaid the faith Salford showed in him by leaving to sign for Quinns after we were relegated at the end of the 2002 season. Alker , Baynes , Coley stuck with us ( As did Paul Highton ) which is why they should be considered for pack of the decade and Highton D won't be . If he is earning more being a Plumber for Warrington Council seems like you're still paying for him now ..

Not sure when D Highton started playing for us but he definitely didn't leave at the end of 2002. He was in my opinion a highly effective interchange hooker with Alker during our 2003 promotion season. I have a clear memory of him scooting about 45 yards from dummy half away at Spotland in one game.

| Ok so after much deliberation I've cobbled this together. We appear to have had a good number of decent props but not many good loose forwards.
Highton
Alker
Rutgerson
Adamson
Coley
and this is the toughest part, I've worked out the following players stats;
Brown
Charles (with both both S.L. and NL1 stats)
Wainwright
Swain
Finnigan
and have now whittled it down to Charles & Finnigan and for now thats the best I can do.
I would have no complaints about Cashmere, Stapo, Baynes or even to a lesser extent Korki making the team (although every team needs a good bench! )

Now I'm not saying you're right or wrong on this I’m just merely pointing to the stats! (as per usual

Incorrect i'm afarid.
Iain's right on this one. Dave Highton left at the end of 2003 season after we'd been promoted.

Fascinating - certainly he made more yards than I would have given him credit for - but the error rate and penalties conceeded means I definitely did see some of what I thought I saw (sorry Rioja kicking in here!!)
