As for the comments about Myler, I'm sure if the club felt there was an issue they could put a complaint in.
'"
I don't think any Salford fan would begrudge Myler going to Warrington for a bigger contract and the possibility of winning things. It was the fact he was approached half way through the season and we lost an in-form player from that point because Myler's head was elsewhere. If Warrington had made an approach as they should at the end of the season I think Salford fans would view it differently!
It’s a question of moral code and I think both Myler's agent Offiah and the Warrington board showed a distinct lack of respect for our club by unsettling the player to benefit themselves.
As for a complaint ..what would that achieve apart from a hand spank and dragging our game through the mud in the media?

Warrington will not have been able to formally approach Myler without Salford's permission. I don't see any reason for them to do that either, as they will have always been prepared to offer big money, and Salford will always have been prepared to take big money.
McRae made some points about this (which you seem to quote), but unfortunately that is sport. Plenty of players are aware they are leaving clubs at the end of the year, and played on. For me that was a weakness for both Myler and McRae.

Or... Dogpie may actually be correct... despite what some may think.

| Firstly well done Stefan. Great news and well deserved.
Secondly, what happened with Myler no one will ever know for certain although I like all of you have my theory. But The RFL cannot let this situation persist. When Smith got the job he resigned from Leeds. After the world cup debacle he realised that this job could be under threat and took the Warrington job thus putting him in a position that can be abused. The only way to stop this specualtion is to have full time England coach.

Can't disagree with that tbh, whether anything happened or not, it is always open to speculation when people are put in these positions.
It is worth pointing out though that there have been plenty of part time managers before, and people haven't been accused of abusing their positions.
I think had he left for somebody like Celtic where the England manager had been, for no more money, then you could really question it. The fact is he is leaving for a club where he feels he has more chance to win things, and earn a lot of money.

There is a difference, you are referring to players who's contracts run out at the end of a season and need a new club. Myler is a young lad that was still contracted to Salford until the end of 2010. As a youngster he was obviously vulnerable as proved by his big dip in form.
Put the ball on the other foot and think about how you would feel as a wire supporter knowing another club had approached and unsettled one of your best contracted youngsters half way through a season? ...leading to the player's form suffering and eventually missing lots of games?

But as Dave T says, what if Salford had given that permission?

point is, there is the scope for impropor conduct. second, there have been accusations before, Brian Noble and Coley's move to Wigan being one example.

Why would Salford give permission half way through a season knowing it could potentially unsettle the player? ..when it was obvious Wire were not in a position to buy him until a much later date due to being at full salary cap for 2009?

I would suggest that it isn;t that unusual for players to negotiate with other clubs during the season.
The reason this one may have not worked for Myler and Salford was IMO due to the high profile nature of it, and his youth. I suspect Salford didn;t know how this would affect his head, and the fact that he and Salford were asked about this issue in pretty much every single press conference will have added to the pressure.
The fact is that he is a young lad who hasn;t necessarily coped with the pressure, but can I also point out that we signed Ryan Atkinso from Wakefield, and this has been rumoured for a good while, yet he is still playing for Wakefield in the 1st team.
