| Very clever John - for clues look at a very long thread on this board. They're all coming, oh yes!

| Keep saying it but for me Adam Neal has the most potential of all the young forwards, there is just something about him in both defence and attack. Can see him turning into one of the frist names on the sheet each week.

| The second row is going to be a large topic of conversation, next season. For now we'll take it for granted According to some reports Bailey is the man when it comes to organizing the defence. So we need him in the team. Vinnie Anderson is powerful in both defence and attack, another we need in the team. Adam Sidlow has great hands, gives us presence an on field presence, runs well out wide and scores tries. Sounds like we need him, which, if we have two props and a back on the bench, would make you think Luke Adamson will miss out. Then again, Adamson was immense for us in 2009; tackling like a demon and scoring tries. What about Rob Parker?
Difficult one to call, going off McRae's previous selections, we'll probably end up with Adamson, Bailey and Parker off the bench. My hope is, he keeps faith with the two younger players.
I also agree with Michigan Red, and definitely think Adam Neal could find himself on the team sheet ahead of Boyle and Jewitt.

| having two utility players wont work woth ratchford and owen on the bench i just go with ratch and 3 forwards if you dominate the ruck area first half it gives the team field position and puts us in the arm wrestle

| I think the backs are fairly nailed on - Patten, Broughton, Nero, Henry, Gibson, Holdsworth, Smith
Probably the only debate is whether Bailey will be first choice centre ahead of Nero but I think he'll start in the 2nd row. I'll be interested to see how Gleeson gets on if he gets a run in the team
Cashmere, Leo-Latu and Wild are likely to be pretty much guaranteed starting places. Likewise Feka a place on the bench.
I do feel though when looking at other options that Feka is a luxury we can't afford. My preference for the rest would be Boyle, Neal and Jewitt as the other starting prop plus two on the bench (I think they all have different strengths and weaknesses so won't lose sleep over which starts and which is on the bench). My heart says put the two Adamsons in the 2nd row and have Owen and Ratchford on the bench with the two props to give us lots of attacking options and to see our youngsters develop
My head tells me that the more experienced and overseas players will be 1st choices though so I think Mcrae will go with Anderson and Bailey in the 2nd row, Boyle as starting prop with Parker, Feka and Adamson (L) or Jewitt alongside Ratchford
Given our lack of depth in the three quarters I can see Ratchford spending a good few games on the wing and Owen is likely to have more chances than maybe he is ready for given we only Leo-Latu at hooker. I do rate Owen and I thought he went really well at the back end of last year but I would prefer him as an interchange rather than expecting a full 80 out of him at this stage in his career
All in all a definite improvement on last year. i think our success will rely on us avoiding injuries to the three quarters, Cashmere and Leo-Latu. if we can do that we should be in with a shout of the lower end of the top 8

| Another option and one which I would like to see happen is Ratchford coming on for Latu, Smith going hooker and Ratchford at half back with Holdsworth, as many of you know im not a smith fan but think having him as hooker could add a bit of speed at the ruck, then that way we have ratchford, holdsworth & smith on the pitch at the same time, if the forwards can get on top then having these 3 on the pitch at the same time could really work for us.
I also feel we could do with another prop, fekka is great coming of the bench but if cashmere gets injured like last season then we are in the same boat of having no go forward, but hopefully having a couple of good strong second rowers like Anderson & Bailey, will help the props out a lot more than last season.
As someone has pointed out Bailey could be utilised in the centres over Nero, who knows?
Still its great to have all this choice and I for one am hoping we can sneak into the top 8.

| ....and not a single mention yet of Sean Gleeson (apart from the very first post). Does that mean that we've forgotten we've signed him or we all think he was just a very ordinary squad make-weight signing? Personally, I reckon we might see him as a starting centre rather than Nero who would be a better bench impact player? Thoughts everyone?

He's a bit of an unknown to some extent. The Wakefield fans seemed pretty pleased to see the back of him, which suggests he wasn't tearing up trees over there. I can't see Mark Henry and Ashley Gibson dropping out of the low numbers, and I suspect he'll be behind Chris Nero in the pecking order on name recognition and reputation as much as anything. It may depend on how they all shape up at training now we've got more coaches than Stagecoach. There aren't too many English/British centres around, so let's hope he's the dog's (and not in a Joel Monaghan way).
