| Arrived home a happy man. It was such a relief to see a much improved performance.
I'm now hoping that we turn up next Friday and at least make a game of it.

| Our coach has earned his get out of jail card today, thought we played the conditons well and the team put in a much improved performance.
Main concern was giving away to many penalties, also Boyle needs to watch his step after getting ten minutes in the bin.

it didn't look even a penalty to me (from 80 yards away, admittedly), never mind a sin binning. I don't think either official saw it properly.

| from a totally neutral view
Excellent performance from Salford- from minute 1 to minute 80
Too many pens in first half but thats being picky, defended well in first 40 as although they scored 3 tries they didnt have too much actual possession
Very solid in 2nd half and to only concede 6 points in those conditions and if you werent there - they were straight out of the old days was great defence

Thanks Phil
But on the penalty count both sides were doing the same, laying on offside etc but only one being pulled up and then in the second half Ganson gave up on giving pens, but both sides were still doing the same as in the first half.

| At least it was passed around yesterday which in those conditions was a minor miracle.
A few green shots of progress were on show, but the whole team will have to up their game 70% to give Wigan a contest.
I again felt sorry for Jodie Broughton, he must have been freezing to death the lack of ball he got.
Most times he was stood free but again our quickest player was just bypassed.
A wins a win but I am waiting for the Wigan game to see if we really have turned the corner.

Spot on, we lost the penalty count 9-2, however it was already 8-2 at half time so we sorted things out, the only pen was against Boyle, if he did catch Smith late then he needs to be brought up about it, he's been warned about that before. Besides he was sent off and banned last season and he's already been suspended already this year, he needs to clean it up. I will add, I thought he was outstanding yesterday.

Like Ryan Boyle, he provided good support to Big Ray in that opening 20 minutes that set up the game for us , his hits are hard , but I don't think he's a naturally dirty player , just a bit mis-timed
I'm sure his charge down was just a way of saying hello to Jeremy Smith.
At least he was charging down the kick , should this be left to a prop forward ...

Love him or hate him, 163 consecutive appearances should make Stuart Littler a Salford legend in anyone's book :Others/NA.JPG |

I'm not even sure it was mis-timed.
On the day I thought it looked OK and was a harsh penalty (and hence a MASSIVELY harsh sin-binning) and now, having watched Wakey's highlights real, I still think he was committed to the tackle before the player released the ball.
Had he pulled out of the tackle and the kicker had gone to kick but then dummied and stepped past Boyle I would've been livid, so think he was well within his rights to make the tackle (and it wasn't even a bad tackle either?!)
Wonder if he's already maanged to gain a reputation amongst referees and that's gone before him??

I agree, the impression I got was the officials saw the tackle about to be made, looked away when the ball went in the air, looked back to him sprawled on the floor and then played to the crowd.
