| Just back from the 'Tangerine Club' where I've been celebrating Salford City's excellent 2-1 FA Cup victory over Chorley in the FA Cup Preliminary Round. After Steve Foster had had a perfectly good looking first half goal ruled out out for a supposed infringement which was then followed up by a second half penalty miss one could have thought that it wasn't to be Salford's day. However a Matty Cross inswinging cross on 63 minutes was adjudged to have crossed the line to give the Ammies a 1-0 lead before Chorley levelled the score just five minutes later. With just a minute remaining and a replay looking a likely outcome Salford booked their place in the next round when Rhodri Giggs hammered home a 90th minute winner to send the Moor Lane faithfull delirious.
Next game is at home on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August ko 3:00pm when Clitheroe are the visitors in the Evo-Stik Division One North.

| FC are currently top of the NPL Premier Division (I'm not using the new sponsor's name, no chance) on goal difference with three wins out of three. The win at Marine was followed by a 1-0 at home to Nantwich on Wednesday followed by a 5-1 win at home to Retford United yesterday.
Next game is away at Ashton United tomorrow.

Why, do you consider Evo-stik's adhesive products to be vastly inferior to those of Unibond?

Arf. Naah, they're just taking the p*ss in terms of pushing their own brand on everyone. Their profile is far bigger than Unibond's ever was - even down to the fact that, if the subs and management aren't wearing Evo-stick branded training gear during the warm up and the entirety of the game, then the club get fined a daft amount of money.

If you want a laugh and get the chance, have a look at the back of the NPL handbook for this year.

| After an extremely poor first half display and trailing 2-0 on the hour mark to Clitheroe the Ammies appeared to be out for the count until Steve Foster on 69 minutes and Dean Cooper on 86 minutes looked to have given Salford City an unlikely share of the points with yet another late comeback. However, an appalling decision by the linesman who failed to flag for a blatant off-side position saw the visitors steal a last minute winner. Not surprising then in the circumstances that the card happy referee, who had booked five Salford players and just one of Clitheroe's, and his linesmen failed to appear in the clubhouse after the game choosing instead to take their post match refreshments in the officials cabin.

| A last minute equaliser from Radcliffe Borough at Stainton Park denied Salford City a victory and a top six league placing after Steve Foster had shot the Ammies ahead just before the break. But, just as they did last Saturday at home to Clitheroe, Salford proved to be the architects of their own downfall by failing to slow the game down, play keep ball in the corners and run the time down. Absolutely gutted.
Curzon Ashton are Salford's next opponents in a league fixture at Moor Lane on Tuesday 7th September ko 7:45pm. As mentioned in a previous post the FA Cup will be making an appearance before the game and there will be an opportunity for fans to have their photo's taken with the world famous trophy.

| Salford City fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Curzon Ashton at Moor Lane last night. A dubious penalty on 52 minutes seperated the two sides with the Ammies eventually finishing with nine men as Martyn Andrews and Matty Cross both received the red card with Curzon's Luke Mack also seeing red.
Salford will certainly need to raise their game this Saturday 11th September ko 3:00pm when high flying Premier League side Northwich Victoria are the visitors to Moor Lane in the FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round.
