He’s been fantastic at times, if not consistent, but an absolute joy to watch. One of the very, very best I have seen at this club in the last 30 years.

Fair enough - I may well have underestimated how well he's played for you.

| No one player is bigger than the club. Although Chase probably disagrees...

| Quote: John Gilbert Reds "I haven't stood by the club for most of the season with regards to off-field incidents, but on this one I am fully in support of their decision to suspend Rangi even on the eve of yet another important game. If you have a player who flaunts the rules and does not adhere to the same principals as the rest of the squad, then you deserve to be punished accordingly. Don't be confused with thinking this is all Marwan Koukash' doing either, Tim Sheens will have instrumented all of this as all football related matters are dealt with by him and the coaching staff only.
Rangi is a huge individual talent, we all know that but as I am sure certain Cas fans will tell you he is also a massive pain in the ar$e to have around your club. In an environment like ours, he has been allowed for too long to have a greater say on matters and we're now seeing the results of this. He is an extremely arrogant person and after this, do we really want that kind of player at our club? How must other players earning far less than him react when they see him acting with a blatant disregard of club rules.
He's on a very lucrative contract at Salford, so much so he is our highest earning by some way. That money could quite easily be spent elsewhere including an adequate replacement for Rangi.
Remember how distraught Cas were after he left? They soon forget about him.'"
Its not just this, its everything that's gone on. I don't think I could feel any lower than I am now (not jokes about my height please). I'm fed up, I don't want to watch them, I don't want to hear the clubs name mentioned for a while I'm all Salford RLFC and Koukash'd out.

Off memory, they're after a respite on payments, citing high stadium rent (£500,000 p.a?) and other financial pressures, with a view to resume payments in late 2016. Again this is off memory so the reported details may be wrong.

| High rental costs of the stadium, low number of supporters generating a low income, and lower income than expected from sponsors.
Requesting a suspension in payments for 17 months.
Nosey Parker's column in League Express.
Ave It : if you're giving up : first try the game at Halifax. List of pubs on another thread.

True we have done better without him but that doesn't mean we don't miss him. He produced some of the best individual performances I have seen in over 60 years supporting Cas but its his dark side thats the problem.
I think the reason we have done better is down to the coaching team who seem to be able to get the best out of half backs that no one else rates.Marc Sneyd did well last season and Luke Gale is leading the Albert Goldthorpe table this season.
I still think its his agent that orchestrates it all.

| You will hear a similar story from Salford fans. He is by far the best player I have ever seen in a Salford shirt and has produced some breath taking individual moments that will live long in the memory. However it is sometimes easy when waxing lyrical about him to forget all the frustrating moments too, I am sure it was the same at Cas. In our recent games vs Wakefield and Leigh, he nearly cost us the game or at least our lead in those games by coming up with stupid plays that weren't needed and were unforced. It's part and parcel of his game though and when it comes off, it is pretty special.
I think you've seen since he left, a much more cohesive Castleford with a fantastic team spirit. Whilst Sneyd and Gale are arguably of a less standard to the quality of Rangi, both probably bought into the coaches philosophy much more than he ever did and play to instruction.
It will be a massive shame if he does leave, but it wont be the end of the world as some Salford fans will have you believe. I would even have a hefty wager that should we remain in Super League, a Rangi-less Salford Red Devils finishes higher than we did this season.

Really ?
I thought you were older than that !
I'm not going to start naming names as we'll end up in that generation game.
Your posts are normally pretty clued up so I'm staggered at that comment.

I was thinking along similar lines. I've only heard rumours of what he's supposed to have done but the beginning of the end at Cas wasn't his off field lapses but the fact that he kept posting pics of himself p!$$ed of his head and missing training the next day. It was as if he was almost saying sack me if you dare.

Ronnie could be on to something here. What I wouldn't give to see Dunemann and Clinch bossing the show at the Shay. For the visitors, of course...

What have my 'pretty clued up' posts got to do with my age?
I have only been watching Salford since I was a young kid, so early 90's and trust me I haven't seen anyone who even comes close to Rangi during that time.
