Maybe the abysmal performance was a cunning plan to try to get some sympathy from Mr Whittaker - to show him how desperately in need of investment we are.

That was our opportunity to secure some new fans and kick off a new era in style. We (the players, the coaches, the team, the club, the fans) blew it.

Leigh, on the face of it, are one of the top Championship sides with a number of ex-Reds looking to get one over on us, and hence should've been seen as a decent challenge for this early in the season. However, in reality, Leigh are (no disrespect) coachless, skint, barely in existence, low on numbers, full of new signings and should've been tonked, hence making us look like World beaters.

Unfortunately, despite all their problems, Leigh were excellent and outplayed us throughout the entire game in every single department and we were dire in almost every respect, on and off the field.

Not surprised at all though -fully expected today to be a complete shambles, it's the Salford way! I had even predicted a power cut on the way down today, and look what happened?!

Not going to rant about the players or make predictions about the rest of the season though - it was only a friendly! However I have had enough of the club in general, coaches and players included, but the fans as a group are just as bad, and I'm fed up of the whole depressing thing.

Was my first visit to an impressive new stadium but might be my last for a while too icon_confused.gif Completely disillusioned.

Won`t the lads need a good rest after that bruising encounter, after all i`m sure Mr Harrison will take pity on us and tell his parttimers to go easy on us while we get to know each other.

To Redshed, Fatboys Limb, and all...
come on, we've been here before.
Remember cricket scores at Bradford, Wigan, and Hull. Remember Donachie, Carige and also a host of Aussies who "came, saw,and completely failed". Remember going to Saints under Harvey when the press was full of poor old Saints with 6 players in the treatment room; not anything about Salford who had 15 players in the treatment room: we lost but out-sang the Saints fans. Remember false dawns (and Dorns).

Its when we suddenly turn round and bite the favourites that makes going to Salford so worthwhile.

Being frustrated and depressed is part of our psyche.

No, I've yet to have a drink. Yes, I'm upset at today. Yes, I have very strongly considered reducing my visits.

However I expect to lose every game ... even if we got Wath Brow in the cup.
I cannot see getting a season ticket at St Anne's, Mayfield or Whitworth just yet.

It's decent folk like you and the good friends I've made down the years in RL that have kept me at games, and on this forum, for the last couple of years. There's honestly nothing about the team or the club that inspires me anymore. Attending games has become a real chore, even in the 'historic' final season at The Willows (a place I loved to pieces).

I used to love all the times you mention (conceding 96 at Odsal but still having a laugh outside the Top House, losing 48-odd at Knowsley Road but celebrating like we'd won when Littler pushed Cunningham into touch and stopped them getting a half-century, etc). Not quite the same feeling as hearing your own fans booing the home team off at half time in a friendly that's the first game in our long-awaited new stadium?!

As a Wanderers fan I hated leaving Burnden, and hated the Reebok even more, but the way that Bolton improved its overall off-field 'performance' in the new place, as promised, won me over. I just can't see that happening with Salford. I know that Premiership football and SL rugby aren't on a level playing field but I'm far more impressed with the way that Leigh run things off the field than Salford, despite all their problems.

Today was a real tipping point for me - are we really entering a new era or is it same old Salford in a shiny new box. It's clearly the latter, and the box isn't even that shiny?! I've never been a moaner or a ranter on here, and always had a pop at the nut-job pessimists (lancetodd et al?!) so I won't be going on like this for much longer.

However this should be my 20th year as a Reds season ticket holder. I nearly didn't bother last year but gave-in at the last minute and bought one. I haven't bothered this year and can't see a last-minute change of heart on the horizon.

I expect us to win every game,or if not put in a performance which warrants a pat on the back saying at least you gave it your best shot, not to role over and give up,thats what gets my back up.

I thought we looked pretty sharp for about 4mins in the second half.

Nice to hear (albeit the away end) that a bit of noise can be generated in the ground. Here's hoping we get a reason to make some ourselves!

Hillbilly I hear what you say and if you cut me in half i'm red through and through. Today was indefensible and I feel so angry by the fact we have been outplayed and out enthused by a team from a lower division on the verge of survival. I just can't see or feel any pride in our players. There doesn't seem to be any spirit amongst them. I've watched many Salford players over the years (even prior to full-time pro's) run their blood to water for this club but the current lot don't appear to want to break sweat. These players are kidding knowbody and need a reality check to hopefully save us the embarrassment of some absolute hammerings in Superleague. I take no pleasure in knocking my club but today was a total disgrace that will live long in the memory.
